Hello everyone, this forum has proven very useful recently, I'm hoping it will be again. :)

My camera seems to have broken a lens or something, yet I treat it with the utmost respect. It's about 3-4 years old and is the Samsung Digital Cam MiniDV
anyways I was filming a soccer game out my window for 5 minutes and it went really weird.

That is my site for the video so you can see it for yourself. The camera otherwise works fine. The only thing I could think of is that the battery died a long time ago and I constantly keep it plugged into the outlet.

Please take a look at the short video and give me some feedback, it's greatly appreciated. :)

    Looking directly at the cam?

My camera was filming outside of the window, not in direct sunlight and only for about 5 minutes.

Then it began to streak black and white horizontally as shown in my posted video.

Does anybody know what the cause is?

since it's a mini-DV, could the head be dirty? Usually lines while recording is an indication of something wrong with the head...you could try cleaning it.

I assume you've tried using a new tape? And cleaning the heads?

I haven't tried a new tape, mainly because I'm a student and I don't really want to go buying new media if it's not necessarily the problem.

Though I will try "cleaning the heads", but by that do you mean wiping down the lens with a clean cloth, or something not so primitive.

Looking at the lens it doesn't appear cracked/scratched at all.
    Please reply.

no, like the tape head (inside the device, the part that records onto the media itself). You'd have to go buy a cleaner kit (like they used to sell VHS head cleaning tapes or even CD/DVD cleaners).

OR you might even be able to look in the manual and see if it offers suggestions on how to clean it by hand. It might be as simple as using a q-tip and some alcohol but I don't know for sure.
