Is mozilla firefox better than internet explorer

I read your question and I wondered the same thing myself,
from what I understand a "Business Builder" probably
shouldn't worry about this too much, but I could be wrong
so here's what I found...

The major differences that come to my mind immediately are:
-- Firefox has tabbed browsing; IE just opens new windows
-- Firefox has built-in pop-up blocking.

Also, since IE comes automatically with most Windows installations, and because most people lack the [inclination/expertise] to switch to a non-IE browser, ~95% of PC users use IE. So whenever someone wants to write malicious code (spyware, virus, etc...), they will write it for the widest installed base.

As a result, many bad things that happen on the 'net don't affect PCs browsing with Firefox. Most crackers usually find it not worth the hassle to find hidden flaws in 5% of PCs when you can easilly exploit the many publicly-known security holes in 95% of PCs.


Relsqui : You are correct: I did leave out a lot. Would you care to elaborate beyond my answer, or merely post comments? You seem to have a longer list than I do, and thus may be able to answer better than I.
As for Firefox being free, you are also correct. However, IE is also free, and it installs automatically with Windows. IE usually comes pre-installed from the factory!
The AVERAGE person will just use whatever is easiest and least labor/brain-intensive. Double-clicking the IE icon Windows automatically puts on your desktop is a lot quicker and easier than bothering to learn about browsers (not everyone online is computer-savvy), obtaining, installing, and configuring Firefox, especially if you already feel you have an adequate web browser .

 

There is something wrong with my explorer. It often shuts automatically.

In Speed Mozilla win , In Stability IE win , Mozilla is fast web browser but it easy to crash , IE is not fast browser but it stable

 

In my experience, I have found mozilla firefox to be quite helpful, as it offers you various features. Not to mention SEO friendly Plugins.

1. IE started supporting tab browsing with IE7 3-4 years back.
2. Only 55% not 95% PC users use IE, rest use Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
3. IE also have pop up blocker

I don't think anyone lack expertise to shift to other browsers. Even a monkey can do that. obtaining, installing, and configuring Firefox is pretty easy, its not rocket science. More and more people are shifting to Firefox and Chrome.

Certainly Firefox is far much better than IE.The Security problems faced by Microsoft as they are more targeted because of their fame,we know how deep is IE in security matters from start to till now.Internet Explorer was famous because of being user friendly and its catchy interface,but now it is no more Internet Explorer's quality only market is filled with many of the quality Web browser and Mozilla Firefox is leading today.

 

I don't think IE is safer than Firefox. I don't like the ugly interface of IE. Firefox is great, as it's creative and has a lot of addons.

Firefox is better by a LONG shot. I prefer Chrome to all of the above though.

 

I am using Firefox and I think it is the best browser as comparison to other. It provides many tools which are really beneficial for all and its speed is also excellent.

 

FireFox is great and has an edge over IE however I do not like how FF still has memory leaks

I think it crashes due to many addons and customizations, its also using a lot of memory so if you have a 512mb ram then try to use Chrome instead. Nevertheless FF is the best so far.

 

Yeah, FireFox is memory hog especially with all add-ons and customizations. I was using FireFox but recently I switched to Opera 11.00. It's pretty good ,they fixed some things and added full extensions support . What do you guys think ?

 

I used Internet Explorer about 5 years ago when I didn't know for Firefox but now I use Mozilla Firefox only. It's faster, more secure and has more ad-dons than IE.
