Sure, you can get an open-source operating system and be a cheapskate to avoid buying a new OS every couple of years. Or you can buy a quality OS, fully supported by a huge global market, backed by the biggest software giant in the world...
Are you kidding me? This is like saying www,geocities,com/websitename with 4MB bandwidth and 5MB space is better than www, websitename, com with unlimited bandwidth, storage, ftp, email, MySql.

Whatever, have fun with you're free operating systems.

Nearly all viruses and trojans run on your Windows "quality OS" so have fun with that.

Windows is for novices and non-technical users. No real programmer uses Windows for anything other than the fact that their job requires them to program for it because sometimes that's where the money is. If not for that, programmers would use Unix/Linux/BSD. Those are quality operating systems that run rings around Windows and spit in its face.

In the meantime, most computer science was created on Unix/Linux/BSD. 77% of the internet runs on non-Windows operating systems. Google runs on Linux and Yahoo runs on FreeBSD. IBM supports Linux.

So, kid, don't talk of things you know nothing about.

Windows is the most famous that is why it is target for virus attacks etc. Very small percentage of people use Mac, Linux, etc. thats why there are not many viruses targeting those platforms. If you use Mac then you are not any superior to Windows - in fact you are worse off because Apple locks you into using their hardware. How is that not monopolistic? With Windows, you can build your own PC from off the shelf assembled components. You cant do that on mac. Unix etc. would have been relegated to the obscure area of the mad scientists had it not been BASIC that brought it mainstream.

    - Opensource programmers are keep on developing softwares which makes games to run in linux.... eg. Wine,,,, with wine we can run 'World Of Warcrafts" in linux,,,,

    - I agree with this, linux is somewhat advanced,,, but not sooo long,,,,

    - Even though there are lots,,, peoples will go with popular only like Ubuntu & Suse Linux for desktop,, red hat and fedora for servers,,,

    - Internet means Firefox not IE,,,,, BTW it is possible to run Photoshop in Linux with Wine

    - If peoples know that Free products are better than paid, then they will go with FREE

    Microsoft

    - Easy to use,,,,

    - Has lots of popular and useful products like photoshop, flash, maya, etc.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    - Cost High,,,, ( OS, MS-Office, .NET )

    - Security Problems and Virus Problems,,,,,

    - Driver Problems, each and every hardware needs a software,,,,,

    Open Source :-

    - Somewhat difficult, but recent changes makes them very easy,,,,,, eg., before it is very difficult to use linux because of no GUI, but now a days it is enjoyable to use linux ( Ubuntu effects )

    - Has millions of softwares developed my millions of peoples all over the world. but those softwares can't beat windows products.

    eg. GIMP can't beat Photoshop....
    Blender3d can't beat Maya....

but software like Wine run .exe files inside linux,,,,,, even we can use Photoshop in linux,,,,,,

    - Completely FREE,,,, and opensource,,,,,

    - Highly Secure and No Virus,,,,, even if we want to install a software it will ask for password,,,

    - No driver problems,,,,, so no graphics card driver software, no sound driver software, no printer driver software,,,,

On seeing these Open Source will occupy the whole world,,,,,, So microsoft want to take some steps to save their Brand name,,,,,,

The free Linux and cloud based operating systems like Google Chrome OS will definitely take a minor share of Microsoft windows . But ultimately Windows will continue to reign the OS market until someone releases a free OS with great user interface that can even be operated by a kid .
