I would say a yes on this as Microsoft designed software from Operating Systems to word processing programs. All of these innovations brought a lot of help to people needing the said softwares.

And here's a typical DP poster who can't read and doesn't look at previous posts that show he's clueless.

Microsoft does not innovate, has never innovated, and probably never will innovate.

They buy other companies, then rape, pillage, and emasculate the software of those companies.

I think Apple is the leader of all software among all over the world. I advise it to all of you. You'll never regret.

No, and let me tell you why, they do mostly closed-source projects, which is bad for the project security. There are some Linux distributions in the last year which became very easy to install and use, in some cases easier than Windows itself, its just that you have never used it before.

MS may not be the leader, but it was the first and the most popular one, and now its inevitable for all people to jump at Linux. MS has nothing much but a Desktop OS and Mobile OS which users are used to. The rest of the software they are building is not very popular/used in Europe. and i'm going to tell you why... because we are not going to buy a fridgerator that makes Popcorn, since we don't need popcorn. in other words, i believe most of the europeans will buy something only if they need it.

No. Absolutely not. They simply hired talented people and when these people got tired they left and stared new open source projects. Microsoft days are numbered and I agree with Tenev when you said that Linux is gaining ground.

I think it has been but Adobe have also grown a lot in popularity recently and they have became a massive software company, always listening to hear what users have to say about their software.

MS is not the only software provider some other very big companies are Oracle,SAP,IBM these names are very big in the business software and some are as big as MS and maybe even bigger its just the fact that you have never heard of them, its also intersting that the person who started this thread is no longer an active member.
