I have the ultimate version of Windows 7, and it's worth it. Faster than XP, with much more features and a much better look. And of course it is better than Vista.
I have it since Nov-20088, The first beta - I liked it since than already. Now I have the full version for few months and I like it more than Ubuntu.
The graphics are a complete copy of KDE, but I did test it and well, it seems like a polished version of Vista with better graphics, less errors, and more features. Most of which, again, ripped from open source Operating Systems and GUI's.
waiting for pick up my os to windows 7, but i think that is good enough for updating unsatisfaction feature @ vista, well done !
I got windows 7 with my new computer and it's pretty nice, wouldn't have paid for it as an upgrade from XP if I didnt get a new computer though.
it is interested improve desktop navigation for windows 7, what about similiar with the aero desktop ? wonderful.
wew, it is great think by microsoft that satisfied user like you to migrated from the ubuntu, ermm, what about dual os ? is it needed the upgrading RAM ?
I think they could've done it better (the windows flip is like a bad copy of the shift switcher . I totally love Compiz Fusion on Linux, and I wish Microsoft could implement the same effects + the possibility of creating totally different themes (like you can make Linux look like MacOSX or Vista or any other OS with 2 clicks)...
Got my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate yesterday and it's really nice in term of speed and performance. Tried testing it with about 10 programs opened at once and it was flawless! The only thing bad thing I noticed is when shutting it down. It took almost 2 minutes for the system to turn off.
I have a Core 2 Duo 2.1GHz, 4GB Ram, Radeon hd 3470 Toshiba P300 laptop. Of the newer games I played Fallout 3 and Mass Effect, and there was no difference between XP and 7 in speed (Frames per second are the same and, for example, Alt-Tab to open a browser window is equally fast). One should look at Windows 7 as basically XP with the Aero interface + a few subtle but useful additions like when the OS tells you exactly which application is using a file which you can't delete and restarts crashing apps automatically...
Windows 7 is good for low spec computers you just need at least 2gb ram In the uk its 70 pounds witch is very cheap Vista was like 200
Saw the OS when I was at my friend's house yesterday and it does look impressive. Much faster with improved appearance but that doesn't give me enough justification to upgrade unless I bought a new laptop.
i got no problem using it till now and i think it's better than vista however it's a bit hard to find a right drivers for Windows 7 though.
I was going to wait a while to get it. Then I got tired of my old single core xp based computer. So I bought an entry level new computer with windows 7 nothing fancy. Speed and performance I noticed slightly. New features are nice compared to xp. Then I plugged my xp computer back in to retrieve some files, and holy cow it definitely apparent how slow my xp computer was now. Of course it has a lot of junk on it and the new one is fresh with very little. To me it was very worth it now that I can really see the 2 side by side.
And now Stardock has finally upgraded their WindowsBlinds (to change skins in windows) program to be compatible with W7 Well, it's still officially in beta, but you can download it and it works fine.
That should surprise you all of the best stuff is open source. Lol. Windows 7 is pretty descent, way better than vista, but that doesn't take much.
