Is manual submission what I think it is?

I keep seeing SEO firms offering manual directory submission. Is this basically going to each directory and submitting your link. I am asking because I can do this myself, why pay someone? Or am I missing something?

In case you don't have enough time, you need to hire a professional.

Everyone can cook at their home, either good or bad, then why to pay at restaurants??

There's thousands of directories out there. It's hard finding the good ones too. It takes forever to submit to them all too. That's why outsourcing the work helps.

Mikey and Matrix have made some good points.

    1. It's a tedious and boring job.
    2. It's not very costly, and you might use your time in making more money elsewhere. You outsource this work only if your time is more valuable.
    3. You can avoid the task of looking for new directories etc. to people who specialize in it.

Some of these companies do have staffs going to over a few hundred directories a day just to submit your site. It's extremely boring and repetitive but what they are charging is quite insignificant considering to the result you will be getting.

You can do it yourself but i bet sooner or later, you will start to consider these services. :)

In my language, directory submission is wasting of valuable time. Content relevant 10 equal to 2000 free directories links. I didn't get pr from directory but second site got good pr form 10 content relevant pr0 back links. may be.... it may destiny me.
