Is making your blog dofollow advisable??

I am aware that dofollow will drain out the PR juice if low quality sites start commenting on your site..
But dont you think it is a good strategy to attract more visitors to your site?? At least for the newly developed site, its a good way to increase traffic.
Please let me know your views on this.

Having a 'dofollow' blog will certainly attract more traffic, but not necessarily the one you want. For a quick rise in traffic having 'dofollow' will attract a lot of spam posts and bots. However, if you change this tag to 'dofollow', you will discourage spam somewhat (they don't seem to care lately), but it's the only choice when trying to build quality traffic.

Agree with your view.. It wont be attracting the right traffic.. even though i control all the comments being posted on the posts, still I will be attracting unnecessary traffic.. Thanks for highlighting the point

No it is not at all advisable, I had kept my blog do-follow for a couple of months and you will not believe I have around a million comments to be moderated :D
I have given up on moderating any comment now and also stopped the do-follow tag for my blog ;)

With appropriate captacha and spam filters we have had a very successful high page rank dofollow blog.

Do follow blogs will attract more traffic from users looking to comment on your posts. So I recommend it.

Yes, it may attract more visitors to your blog but, as the previous posters claimed, it won't bring in the right traffic. Possibly only dofollow blog comment spammers hoping to get a dofollow backlink.

It is a terrible idea to do that because spammers will invade your blog.

Do-follow blogs will attract more traffic and comments. But the intention of the comment is just to get backlink. If users are genuinely want to contribute why they need do-follow backlink ? They can tell us who they are by using a no-follow link.

That's the 'best' solution to attract all the spam-bots out there. Make sure to make moderate each comment before posting. But that makes more work for you.

But say if a site is very new and not getting traffic then it can be a good strategy to increase initial traffic to site.. Agreed that it will be lot of work to moderate each and every comment but the traffic to site will definitely increase.. something is better than nothing... what say??

If it increases the spam or bot then take action to decrease them. But dofollow is advisable. Because if you shows that you are strict, then you will get good or better contribution from the link builder. Then more traffic will come and by this way you can be able to gain the right audience too.

That's the problem with those visitors. They are not people who are going to be engaged with what your site is all about. They just don't care, they not are going to read content that you have on your site, and all they need is back-links. That's one of the key reason you'll probably have tons of comments waiting to be moderated in a daily basis.

No matter your blog links is "nofollow" or not , there are definitely spammers out there.as a newly developed site , i suggest use "dofollow" tag to attract some valuable comments.
Plus: make use askimet plugin is installed to block certain spammers.

Many change their blogs to no-follow after a while as an attempt to thwart the spammers
