    Hello,

I am thinking to establish song lyrics website. Does anybody have experience with this niche? I don't search for very high income, but if this can generate around $100 per month from ads, let me know.

    Kind regards...

Well, I don't think that you earn that much...
OK, there are much words on every page, so good for adsense, but there are 1000000 sites like that, so it's difficult to get just THAT visitor to YOUR site and not that site that exists for 10 year, is number 1 in google and has pagerank 10

    You understand what I mean?

I wouldn't do it, but you can always try ;)

If I would begin such a site, it will get to $700 of development costs at common prices.. leaking the lyrics, watching for updates, sending advertisements. Thus getting a support for amarok and foobar (those are players) users. But to entertain them more, you should develop some services or applications. And that's comes to $1500 total.
And only after that you can expect $250 checks to be sent from time to time.
Make a viral crush on users..

Its not impossible to get $100/month from the niche
In order to get that amount, you must work hard enough to promote your site

still one of the most searched for keywords. if you can't make money off of that, i don't know what you can make money off of.

the problem is differentiating yourself from the competition. be unlike the others. be creative. it's not as difficult as some present it to be. think outside the box, jack. :p

i bet that it is possible to attain 100$ per month on this niche but with the number of competition already you should probably try other niches that are less saturated :)

really very difficult to rank high because the sites there have been around a long time and very established

plus I heard that the recording industry is always thinking about lawsuits for using their lyrics without permission, so that is a small possibility to worry about also

100$ per month is a small thing you are eyeing for.. It completely depends on your skills and the content plus the CMS u handle the site with.. and also the traffic which will decide how much u can earn.. The more and efficient u work the more u will earn. but this niche is less paying for sure but the traffic quantity is huge.

nice... i use lyrics websites a lot and there isn't 1000000 as someone exagerrated but there is a quite a lot.
earning $100 should be pretty easy but yr start up cost as another said earlier would be probably low $x,xxx
always good to add features like linking to snippets or the songs or Youtube
    Good luck:)

    Thank for all replies!

I have already CMS with more than 16000 albums and 10 times more fresh titles database. I was thinking about Youtube marketing, but actually idea would be bet as i do not think anybody will return to website as just search on Google will give visitors a lot results. I am more than 10 years in Business, and nearly 8 work as SEO, may be i will try with $3 investment for domain, i already have Dedicated Server and we will see what will happened after 1 year!

it has been in the news

here is a clip out of a news report:

"sites that provide lyrics and scores to popular songs. The Music Publishers' Association says fines and the removal of such Web sites is not enough -- it is even advocating jail time for those operating these sites.

MPA President Lauren Keiser told the BBC Monday that he thought if the MPA would be successful in "[throwing] in some jail time I think we'll be a little more effective"."

    and this:

"The NMPA began sending warning letters to infringing lyric Web sites a few weeks ago and at least one site has taken down the copyrighted lyrics, she said.

"Our next step will be to send DMCA notices to the ISPs who host the site or the search engine that shows sites up in results," she added. "We're hopeful that it will be effective. The goal and the focus here is really the sites that are trying to monetize the lyrics." "

I wouldn't put it past those jerks. They did the same thing with guitar tab sites a year ago. Seriously, the whole recording industry are a bunch of clowns.

theres so many sites, what will make yours special? then after that, think about adding other features like a instrumental of that song so people can sing the lyrics to it and stuff!

I agree with those that said, it is not a good niche to get into. The previously established sites will scope away all your visitors from the Google SERPs. It would probably have been a good market to get into a few years back due to long tail keywords and the like, but nowadays, I feel it is too saturated of a niche. Good luck either way!
