I have also made almost 4 to 5 link wheel for different projects. I have learned the actual effectiveness of the linkwheel, I want to share it below 1. We all take web 2.0 sites like squidoo, blogger, wordpress, livejournal for make linkwheel. But the main thing is we have to individually optimize each spoke of the linkwheel for get PR or backlinks to the spoke. If we make one new blog on any platform and make a single post on there for linkwheel then it never be effective. We have to continuously add content to those blog platform so that search engine crawler frequently crawl our content. 2. I have seen that within few days I get ranking improvement of the keyword for which I have made linkwheel, but after some days ranking goes down, why? I think this is due to the decrease the effectiveness of each spoke. After making the linkwheel, I leave to work for that wheel, so ranking also goes down slowly.
Linkwheels can have a very good effect, but you should diversify each link wheel you build so they are not the same.
