Is linking to copyright material legal or illegal?

    I can't seem to find a definite answer to this question online. Is posting links to other websites which host copyright material legal or illegal?

    I just read this article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26187730 which I think says the the EU court has ruled that linking to copyright material isn't illegal. Does this mean that the shutdown of TVShack was wrong?

    Do you have money to waste on a lawyer? the music/movie companies have much more than you. Even if it isnt illegal they will bury you in court costs... unless you live somewhere they can't get to you?!
