Question - is link trading allowed?

For example, on a "partner" page, can I host a link to someone else's site and request one in return?

i think link exchange is allowed

but link sales is not allowed unless you add NoFollow tag to it

 

Excessive link exchange is also penalized by google

 

No harm having a link exchange with other webmasters.

 

its better to get site wide links.One way links are the best.But still its much better to get a site wide link if you do not know how to get the one way or find them hard to get.But if you want to rank in google then you need the one way links.

Whether swapping links with one other webmaster is breaking that rule is up for interpretation.

Well I am willing to trade links with others in the same industry. That would be: yep you guessed it

1. weight loss / cosmetic surgery and
2. Mortgage and Home Loans industry

 

link trades are good just make sure that you aren't linking to pharmacy or gambling sites if your promoting adsense.

If you are thinking of exchanging link, don't make the offer on public. Someone from google may see it and you know what they are going to do next. They penalize those who trade links.
