Is it better to focus on one key word or phrase for IBL's or should they be spread evenly over a number of keywaords or phrases?
Definitely spread over a number of relevant keywords - I really target 4 or 5 keywords or phrases for each of my sites.
Normally I use the title as the anchor text, and it's about 8 keywords. But there is no standard how many you use.
What do you recomend for web hosting? For example i mainly target 'uk web hosting' but i also sometimes (rarely) target other search phrases like 'uk web hosting company', 'web hosting london', etc.
less does = more. targetting 3/4 main keywords is better (and easier) than targetting say 10 keywords.
Agreed. Identify the words/phrases that have the highest traffic potential for your subject matter, and focus the page, and your incoming anchor text, to match. Focus on one or two words/phrases per page, and you'll be surprised at just how few (quality) IBL's it takes to rank highly for those words/phrases. Phlegm.
thanks guys. i ended up analysing the key words and phrases on page, then looking at overture, correcting, then going for an even spread of keyword phrases.
