Hey guys, I've found a good laptop with following specs. 2.1 Ghz Intel Dual Core 4 GB RAM etc. So I was just wondering can this laptop be a good solution when it comes to web design? I'm planing to use Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash CS4 on it so what do you think, is laptop a good solution for web design or should I buy a desktop PC with same specs?
You should go for a PC with these specs or even better ones. Its easy to work on a PC rather than a Laptop. - Mr.President -
Why so? I think that I can manage it on a laptop, but I'm just hoping that batteries and 2GB of RAM can take it (I might not not get the model with 4 GB)
Well I work 6 or 7 hours per day, but I'm not all the time on Photoshop. I don't understand, why is not laptop a good solution if I'm working for a long time? Btw, it's 15.6" and that's minimum for a Photoshop and such so it can work I guess...
Laptop will be good if you can manage working on it. There is nothing much difference in this for web development kind of jobs It mainly depends on your comfortability. Also Laptops give you more hours of power backup.
I think for web designing Desktop would be better than Laptop. even there would be more convenient in laptop but while on designing it would be better to design it in a large monitor and also laptop produces more heat so i don't like to use laptop for long hours. not even more than 3 hours continuously.
Well I tried to work on a laptop once and it's bit uncomfortable, but with USB mouse and keyboard it shouldn't be a problem. And the heating can't damage laptop? I heard that laptop is meant to work under high temperatures. I need to know that because I'm going to work 4-10 hours per day and completely switch from my desktop to laptop.
I'm using my laptop to put downloads and it will be in ON state for about 14 Hours/day continuously but i didn't notice any degradation in performance.I'm using this Laptop for about 3 Years in the same manner. I feel Laptops are always better than Desktops.
I'd say if it has at least 512MB of video ram and has a HD 17"+ display, it will work fine for web design. You shouldn't have a problem running Adobe CS applications on it, that's for sure.
Well...I can't really afford 17"... But it says that Photoshop can work under 15.6". And one more thing...why is video RAM important? I don't plan to use GPU rendering and such, I even keep that thing off at my own desktop.
The model that I'm looking at has Intel GMA 4500 Graphics. I'm not an hardware expert but this looks like an ATI to me. And I don't think it doesn't matter which GPU laptop has, ATI or Nvidia because they both do the same thing.
I my opinion PC could be a good choice for u'r work. Laptop's can't be easily upgraded and have very less battery back-up if u are away from electricity. So go for PC instead of Laptop....
Laptop with atleast 4GB of RAM , and any basic Graphics card from ATI (need not be high-end GC) will work, if you are looking for web designing and development. You need not spend high on Graphics card.
for me i like desktop pc with 21" display. why desktop coz i can upgrade more easy than i use laptop. and try wacom to change ur mouse, that's a awesome tools
