is joomlancers safe?

    I see that the site is available for years now, but I do not see much activity on it. Also, I did not know about it before.

    Anyone did use this site and paid through escrow?
    Need advice before using it for paying a developer.

    I know others as well as some of them got merged during the last few months.
    The problem that the freelancer that I am hiring wants to get paid through this site only.
