Did you learn Joomla in just few moments how to use it ? Or did it took quite some time to master it ? I have zero expierience and I wanna really know how to do it but I can't.
Hi, I began using joomla a few months ago and to be honest i've had my ups and downs. Generally speaking it is really easy to use however a few of the components can be a little tricky to use. You will be able to learn the basics for it in a day as all of the documentation is very clear but other things will take a little more time and research in order to master. Although I have a fairly basic knowledge I would be more than happy to try and help you if need be. Just PM me and i'll see what I can do! Chris
The JComments 2.2 is a powerful and easy to use AJAX based comment system for Joomla with flexible ACL, smiles, BBCodes and avatars support. Working on this release took extra eight months, all this effort was spent to make the component more stable and usable. Considerable time was allotted for code optimization and improved compatibility to third-party extensions.
The hardest part about Joomla is learning to install it on your webhost. It is laid out very well. It is logical. I learned how to install it just over two years ago and wish I had learned it four years ago. I could be much farther ahead today if I had learned it sooner.
I give my clients 2 hours of 1-on-1 phone training after I have built their website with Joomla. They have a solid grasp of creating and editing pages and menus after 2 hours of training. There are several websites that give free Joomla training. One of them is http://www.joomlatutorials.com/.
A few moments? Definitely not. But then I had to learn to use Joomla! to build a large commercial website. For simple sites it *may* require just a little less dedication/effort but I stress just a *little* less. I started using Joomla! CMS in 2005 and took a year to completely convert an existing commercial website from flat html to Joomla! 1.0.x whilst still trying to work a full time job. By 2008/2009 I hadn't kept up with the changes in Joomla! 1.5 so I had to employ a designer & a developer to help me out and maintain the website to the level of quality/professionalism that was expected. So Joomla! will take time to learn and understand but the more effort you put in the more you will get out of Joomla! My advice would be to set up a local test installation of Joomla! Try http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html - it will let you install the complete LAMP environment on your local machine and you can then learn to install and build Joomla! w/o using a live server. It will require effort but it will be worth it
Since Joomla is so easy to use, as a Web designer or developer, you can quickly build sites for your clients. Then, with a minimal amount of instruction, you can empower your clients to easily manage their own sites themselves.
Joomla is good and bad I find. The majority of it is very easy - it just takes some time to learn. However, I have experienced major problems trying to install some modules, especially forums. It took lots of time but I got it done. Joomla is a great thing to learn, even if you don't end up using it.
joomla is very easy to use because ..it takes a few minutes to download its software. It is cms based technology ,where u can change the contents to your own style and add ur contents to it..We can build a website by just knowing PHP and MY SQL,which is a open source to all.It is based on both LAMP and WAMP technology.I just learned in 2 weeks and i am used to it .There is no need of mastering it is all done to you ..just we have to implement it .
You do not need to know php or mysql to use Joomla. Anytime you hear/see that, you are not hearing/seeing the truth. I do not know php or mysql and I can put up a joomla site in an hour or less.
Coming from little to no web experience, I think that Joomla was the best thing that happened for me as a webmaster. Its very easy to use and you'll learn as you go. The WYSIWYG editors provided are excellent for building pages and best of all you don't necessarily have to know HTML to make things happen.
