For once I will have to disagree with you...I think McCain is way to liberal to be considered a true "conservative"...that being said, there are not many people that I do consider true conservatives, I am not even one myself, nor do I ever plan to be...but I think John McCain seems to jump on whatever bandwagon he can if it will make him look good. JMO though...
so random individuals are taking mccain out of the game so he doesn't take votes against guiliani? does that even make sense? i think you believe some sort of wild-eyed conspiracy but realize its too ridiculuous to even type. mccain can't raise funds; that's his problem. and he has a problem - especially lately - of leaving his supporters behind on the things he supports. On a few issues; but on the whole. McCain is a conservative. He's against abortion; he's for privatizing SS, he's for school vouchers, for lower taxes. On other issues he's liberal. And those issues just happen to be the ones that rile up the party. Immigration and campaign finance. McCain's problems in the party mirrors bush's almost identically. And bush's support is falling away too. I don't think either is a "rino" - A rino is really someone who has an R next to their name, but doesn't support anything that the party stands for. IE pro choice, more government involvement, etal.
I can respect you for that opinion...let me ask a question, what about the good congressman from PA, mr. arlen spector?
he's a mixed bag, isn't he? he's fine on some issues, bad on others, but wishy-washy across the board. he's pretty much why moderates are irritating. they don't stand up for anything. spector's voting record shows that as well. he'll vote for something, then vote against it the next time. for politicians, social issues don't bother me, i look at economic issues, primarily. he's been "okay" at not wanting to raise taxes and does vote to reduce them - though he opposes a supermajority to raise taxes. if taxes stay low, views on federal funding of (insert random issue here) is pretty meaningless. and as long as the public doesn't want to stomach a tax increase (which they never do), money for government programs is hard to come by. i think that gets lots in the equation.

McCain has no money left and is in debt, but seems like there are quite a few people supporting and funding him still. I don't believe he is done. I think this is his last shot to try for the Presidency and a lot of people out there believe in him and want him to do well.
