I thought Christians believe Jesus is Son of God until I come across the following article http://www.carm.org/islam/obj_Jesus_son.htm' Does it mean that Jesus is not Son of God and he is a Human being?
Jesus was a human being while he lived here on the earth! And Christians DO believe that he is the Son of God and they also believe that He is God!!
A lot of "so-called Christians" believe Jesus is God because of a incorrectly translated verse in John 1:1 However, I find the correct translation shows Jesus as the Son of God and heaps of other scriptures point to this conclusion as well. Col
2.1 "Our Father, which art in Heaven" 2.2 "Hallowed be thy Name" 2.3 "Thy kingdom come" 2.4 "Thy will be done, in earth as it is in Heaven" 2.5 "Give us this day our daily bread" 2.6 "And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us" 2.7 "And lead us not into temptation" 2.8 "But deliver us from evil" 2.9 "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen" If Jesus gives us this prayer which begins with " Our Father, which art in Heaven". One can logically assume that we are all children of Our Father - God. Of course everyone can have their own interpretation on this matter. But no one spiritually educated person will deny that Jesus has a very special place among all of God's children.
To add to that. Colossians 1:13-16 talks about how all things were created for him by God. It makes sense because that is what a Father would do for his Son. Create the best playground for him to play in, and at the same time teaching him about all the things in that playground. Col
Bible Says: Jeremiah a Son of God They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. Jeremiah 31:9 David a Son of God I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Psalm 2:7 Solomon a Son of God He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. 1 Chronicles 22:10 Samuel a Son of God I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: 2 Samuel 7:14 Dont this mean Jesus is not son of god, but only a messenger like David, Solomon, Samuel?
And where would you find this so-called Correct translation?? I would be interested in seeing that!! BTW, how are you Col??
With weeping they will come, and with [their] entreaties for favor I shall bring them. I shall make them walk to torrent valleys of water, in a right way in which they will not be caused to stumble. For I have become to Israel a Father; and as for E′phra·im, he is my firstborn.†Let me refer to the decree of Jehovah; He has said to me: “You are my son; I, today, I have become your father. It is he that will build a house to my name, and he himself will become a son to me, and I a father to him. And I shall certainly establish the throne of his kingship firmly over Israel to time indefinite.’ 14 I myself shall become his father, and he himself will become my son. When he does wrong, I will also reprove him with the rod of men and with the strokes of the sons of Adam. It looks to be these men were "a son of God" because God was Fatherlike to them. Jesus, is called "the Son of God". Many prophecies point to him as the Messiah, whereas these other men were never looked at as the Messiah. Col
Jesus is the Messiah. But still he is only a messenger. Not Son of God. May be he can be called "the Son of God" because God was Fatherlike to him. God is like father to all human being. It looks like Christians believe that Jesus is real Son of God.
Do you know what the Messiah is? I respect people for ALL of the different religions but if it is Christianity that you are referring to, you need to do a little research on the virgin Mary and how Jesus was conceived!! And to a true Christian, calling Jesus a mere messenger of God is like a slap in the face!! Only my own opinions here!!
I guess it depends on how you look at the Bible. Because, that's where this comes from does it not? Colossians 1:15 names him as the "firstborn of all creation". Matthew 28:18 has Jesus saying "All authority in heaven and on Earth has been given to me". John 3:35 shows Jesus talking about how God loves him. Luke 1:30-35 clearly explains how Jesus came to be on the Earth through Mary. Matthew 16:16 shows Jesus acknowledging he is the Messiah, or Christ, the son of God. Other good verses to read are: John 5:24-5 John 14:6 There are many many more verses to show this. Col
I believe I know what the Messiah is. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone. Its all my personal opinion. I would be happy if you quote words from Bible to say Jesus is "the Son of God".
Very well put !!, and it's true!! I have often said that I would like to see someone find one (1) lie that the Bible ever told!! Has anyone ever seen or heard of a lie that came from the Bible???
I have been studying the entire Bible very closely for over 4 years. Can't find any untruths or lies in there. It's kind of like a big jigsaw puzzle. Over time, the pieces start coming together to be able to view the big picture. It's an amazing book. Been the bestseller for decades. Many have tried to disprove the Bible's authenticity. Unfortunately, those who try end up getting very angry about it because their evidence is not rock solid and they get possessed by trying to disprove it. However, the evidence about the Bible being written by men and inspired by God is not rock sold either. This is where faith comes into play. Jesus and others pointed out that you will know his people by their works. I can happily say I have found these ones. I now know why I am here and I now know what I need to do. I have never had a real purpose in life prior to about 4 years ago. The huge family I have now can never be taken away from me, no matter how vicious some people are towards the Bible. Not here giving a sermon.....LOL...just lettin' ya know!! Col
Sorry to change my answer but im gonna have to prove u both wrong now)))))))). The Divinity of Christ Christ’s divinity is shown over and over again in the New Testament. For example, in John 5:18 we are told that Jesus’ opponents sought to kill him because he "called God his Father, making himself equal with God." "In John 8:58, when quizzed about how he has special knowledge of Abraham, Jesus replies, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I Am"—invoking and applying to himself the personal name of God—"I Am" (Ex. 3:14). His audience understood exactly what he was claiming about himself. "So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple" (John 8:59). " Remember this term IAM IAM IAM Jesus just said he is god when he spoke those terms and this is why the people of the temple wanted to stone him. This is coming straight from jesus's mouth, you cant get a better authority in the bible. In John 20:28, Thomas falls at Jesus’ feet, exclaiming, "My Lord and my God!" (Greek: Ho Kurios mou kai ho Theos mou—literally, "The Lord of me and the God of me!") This is saint thomas calling him my lord my god. Now go back and read after that. I dont hear jesus telling thomas this is a lie does he? Nope because he even says hes god himself lol. In Philippians 2:6, Paul tells us that Christ Jesus "[w]ho, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped" (New International Version). So Jesus chose to be born in humble, human form though he could have simply remained in equal glory with the Father for he was "in very nature God." Also significant are passages that apply the title "the First and the Last" to Jesus. This is one of the Old Testament titles of Yahweh: "Thus says Yahweh, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, Yahweh of armies: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; besides me there is no god’" (Is. 44:6; cf. 41:4, 48:12). This title is directly applied to Jesus three times in the book of Revelation: "When I saw him [Christ], I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand upon me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the First and the Last’" (Rev. 1:17). "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: ‘The words of the First and the Last, who died and came to life’" (Rev. 2:8). "Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense, to repay every one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the beginning and the end" (Rev. 22:12–13). More proof that jesus is god This last quote is especially significant since it applies to Jesus the parallel title "the Alpha and the Omega," which Revelation earlier applied to the Lord God: "‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty" (Rev. 1:8). As the following quotes show, the early Church Fathers also recognized that Jesus Christ is God and were adamant in maintaining this precious truth. Sorry guys , u may know the quran and the jehovas witness new edition(jehovas witness new edition is really new and a completely different translation to teh bible, i mean they dont even celebrate holidays and cant give blood transfusions)
It's all been made up by primitive goat herders who thought every animal on the planet lived walking distance from Noah's house. It's understandable that while reading it you may occasionally be under the impression that it's a load of bollocks and doesn't actually make any sense.
This is one of disputed pauline epistles. Can you quote old testament? My earlier post quotes bible where other messengers or prophets are called the Son of God.
