Is ixwebhosting the best or do you know a cheaper, better one

I want my own domain and to pay for a server to host it. Ill be making several websites, actually I want several domains too. They will be both for personal and business purposes and I want to put ads on it and get paid for those too.

How can ixwebhosting really afford to give you 100 gigs of space? In fact they give you unlimited space with the $12.95 plan! What if someone uses up over a terabyte of space, you know how many hard disk drives ixwebhosting would need in their servers just to host your dormains and websites? also they give more than one terabyte of bandwith(a month?) that is insane! how many impressions would that be equivalent to?

ixwebhosting sounds good, but do you have any better reccomendations for better prices and/or features?

I've used a lot of webhosts in my 4 years I've been online. . .and I've been with hostgator.com for over 2 years now.

They aren't the cheapest in terms of price: I have a reseller account w/ 5GB space & 50-75GB transfer for $25/month. They have true 24x7x365 support: I had to contact them last christmas evening & got a response via a trouble ticket in less than 2 hours (after I called & talked to a live person).

If you're serious about your websites, get a host with real support. There's nothing more frustrating than waiting 24-48 hours for a response on an urgent issue.

I've never heard good things with unlimited space/bandwidth in terms of hosting. Actually, you cannot have "unlimited" as you are always limited by the resources of the company providing the offer. I doubt that you'd get a terabyte of storage/transfer for $12.95/month from anyone. . . If you could get 'unlimited' bandwidth for $13/month - companies like eBay, Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc must be stupid. I'm sure they're paying more than $13/month for their bandwidth. Obviously large companies like these have signifigantly higher needs than the average consumer website. . . I was just trying to make a point.

On the other hand. . .if you're fairly laxed on uptime/support/network dependability then maybe an "unlimited" hosting reseller will work out ok for you; I just wouldn't trust it, even if I were paid to use their service for my websites.

I've never heard of the hosting service you mention, just like mentioned above uptime and service are keys to successful IM marketing.

Bear in mind that there are allot of resellers out there who are renting space on hosting servers such as Hostgator, Godaddy etc. For 24.95 a month I can rent space at hostgator, start my own hosting company and you would not know that I'm actually administering the service from my livingroom in a small town USA.

    I would recommend:
    Ipower
    Godaddy
    Hostgator
    1and1

Compare their features and make a decision based on up time and service, you would have to have an incredibly humongous website to fill even 1gb of space.

Im using hostgator now per a friends reccomodation with the "baby" plan for $10 a month. I get 100 gigs of space, 1000 gigs of bandwith! Whats the difference between shared and reseller? I thought I was allowed to use shared for my business?

A reseller plan gives you a control panel that allows you to set up hosting for other people or IM marketers use reseller plans to host unlimited domains on one host.

When I first started out I used ixwebhosting and they were terrible...really terrible. At one point someone hacked into my shared hosting account..uploaded a bunch of phishing sites (ie fake Ebay, MSN, Paypal pages) and then sent out mass spam from my account. The next day I went to check my websites and ixwebhosting had put up a page (on ALL of my sites, about 15 at the time) that said that the sites were banned due to phishing and illegal activities. So I called the so-called tech support and they refused to give me access to my files and databases...and then proceeded to call me a scam artist and criminal. I was then reported to the real companies (Ebay, paypal, MSN, etc) and was spam blacklisted for over a year. IXWebhosting never offered to help me get this worked out. It took me over a year to finally prove to the companies that I wasn't the one doing it. I had to sort through the log files myself, find the culprit and then prove my case. Did I mention it took IX nearly three months to even turn over the log files to me.

Needless to say..I'm no longer with them. In my case, they were completely unprofessional, their servers were SUPER slow and they really didn't care about their customers or their websites. Sure, they are cheap, but you get what you pay for.

You may want to read their TOS carefully, I bet they have put in there something about removing accounts for any reason they want. I also would assume that if you use 1 terabyte of bandwidth a month you'll put a real strain on their servers which would give them a reason to remove you from their servers.

I use Godaddy. Maybe it's not the cheapest, but what's the difference between $6 and $4 per month?
