Is it worth to start an article directory? do you think i can get the top rankings in google? budget is not a problem i have a budget of xxx,xxx ..i thought of buying an already established article but i want to start something fro scratch. I have a team of 10 with a total budget of more than 100K+. Do you think its worth investing? or what niche do you suggest to start with..i dont want to create a micro niche sites...i already own 50 of them..do google just love ezine and other top directories or will they consider new directories if they are origna and unqiue. please advice
unless you get a lot of traffic and your website has good ranking, or else it's hard to get people writing.
Personally I would not do that from scratch, it would be pretty difficult to get people writing quality stuff unless you have great traffic and good rankings. Quality is a VERY important factor and it's best to not to allow low quality stuff on your site. Google is now much much more strict on article directories, precisely the low quality pages. Low quality content no longer ranks well and that bar is raised by Google recently.
if you have that kind of budget, why not explore the hundreds of others niches out there on the web. theres definitely more profitable and less risky niches than directories. but if your really set on a directory then go for it. the most important thing with starting a directory is it cannot be a link/article farm that accepts anything. DMOZ has that respect and high PR because of one main factor: its human edited. while this does involve a lot of man power and in your case probably a lot of money (DMOZ editors are mostly volunteers) its the only way you will not get shunned by Google. i was a DMOZ editor for a year and we were trained to do a thorough look into each and every website submission. sites could be and were rejected for reasons like broken code or not being user friendly. this is the same with articles. if you are accepting articles saturated in keywords, cliche, multiple links, ect. you will have a tough time getting a nice PR. however, if you only accept articles that can actually benefit the category its in, google will notice and reward you. then on top of that, to get high SERPs, you will need some dynamite SEO. its not as competitive as link directories but still very competitive.
Its pretty old model. Try some turnkey scripts to build your own store or buy a established earning site if you have the enough budget
Since panda update all the article directories are struggling a lot, you have enough things to struggle in IM , so why you want to start a new stuff at wrong time to struggle with ..
