Is it worth the effort optimizing for MSN when google and Yahoo have more traffic. If you make your site right for google will it automatically climb up MSN.
To be honest I haven't ever really thought of any other search engine optimisation, although it seems that I still manage to rate pretty well and way with them...
I watch my positions on a couple of my sites with all three main engines and I have found if I move up one them I dont always move up the others (sometimes down). I am currently pushing one site in particular to see if I can hit the top three at google.
actually even i think you should just get a couple of backlinks on high pr forums and wait... as soon as the google bot scans through the forum again...voila..you got SEO for free...lol
For some reason I get better ranking with msn then with google. I still would not optimize with msn. I get more traffic from Mr. Google.
If you have sites for woman , kids etc optimizing for msn is worth the time cause when someone installs msn messenger the default page is msn and for them a search box is enough they don't care. But if you have a technical site those guys are conservative and knows that msn sucks and don't cover the web as good as the others , no need to optimize. I personally have a technical site ranks on top on msn and it brings no traffic.
For a woman? Are you trying to say women don't care enough to change their homepage off MSN or whatever? Anyway, Windows Live Messenger doesn't make MSN your default homepage unless you check the box when installing.
I travel around the world. Therefore meet and see a lot of people. Google is no doubt the most popular search engine. I'm not so sure if that is world wide. I mean seems like everywhere I go it is yahoo. Come back to states I hear Google. Europe seems to be 50/50 but I haven't done Europe in a few years other than transit between airports while drinking beer, he he. Anyone have some comments on that or better yet some stats maybe?
Around here (Canada), NL in particular, most people use Google from what I've saw. The term "google it" is being used more widely in schools definitely and I see Google a lot in the libraries.
I think a very important variable here that will answer you question is what keyword you want to optimize your site. I would personally suggest you to optimize for google.
That's correct and why I threw in my 2 cents about my experience and travel. If I am correct and you have a world market then Yahoo may be the ticket. If you are targeting the US and Canada then might be Google. But I would check those stats if possible to make that decision as I could be wrong. I don't have stats ....just my observation
