I get quite a lot of traffic on my proxy, although quite a bit of that is from Iran. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but if this traffic does not convert via adsense (i.e. if google does not pay for Iranian clicks) I would rather not waste the bandwidth. 1. Does google pay less for clicks from Tehran? 2. Does google count these as invalid clicks? 3. Is it morally right for me to do this?
I'm trying to sell bannerspace, but I have no-one yet. Other than that, what do you mean by "affiliate" links?
Bandwidth is cheap - just how much is it actually costing you to serve content to them? I treat all "non-paying" readers as potential viral advertisers. They could recomend my site to someone, they might sign up to my newsletter and forward to people etc. A person may not click on adverts - and still indirectly earn you a lot of cash.
Affiliate links are ones where you earn if somebody clicks on them and buys a product. Try amazon or ebay.
If they are visiting your site then I believe that they are already interested in the services/products/information you provide. Why discount them? Even if google pays you less, why does it bother you? You ARE making someee money right?and it's not that, that google is going to ban u for your iranian viewership. That would be plain silly 1. Does google pay less for clicks from Tehran? Probably yeah but that's because the advertisers and their adwords compaign might not be designed for clicks outside US/Canada/UK etc. It boils down to the advertisers and their geo-targetting. Are they catering worldwide market? Or are they targetting some specific areas. Google is not the one to decide that. It's the advertisers. 2. Does google count these as invalid clicks? I guess my views here are the same as I have above. I don't see why google would count these as Invalid Clicks? 3. Is it morally right for me to do this? I don't mean to offend you but yeah it kinda does. Unless you are being hacked or threatened by them, I believe it's morally unfair to block them. Best regards, z
