Is it worth Pointing domains?

    Is it worth Pointing domains?

Suppose you own a site bestapples.com, but you want it to have good SERPs on other terms too, so will it help buying domains like tasty-green-apples.com and the-best-cheap-red-green-tasty-apples.com and pointing them to the main domain. You may also submit them to the directories with the original domain.

Or maybe pointing domains to subdomains, like pointing best-green-apples.com to best.apples.com?

    thanks for your opinions :D

I was considering doing something like this as well. I thought about it and it can only be helpful.

I dont think directories list domains pointed to other sites. you can only list sites in most of the directories.

It will not help your serps but if the domains have any type-in traffic it would help

It will help if the domains were getting lots of traffic before.

Also, if the domain is like apples.com for which you can expect typein traffic, yes, other then that, although it can't hurt to do it, but I dont see much benefit.

I tried doing this for a site. So far we're only targeting tasty-green-apples.com online and using bestapples.com offline because the other is so long and nasty. Haven't noticed much benefit so far but no harm either. The site is fairly new so it still needs about 4 months to ripen before we can really tell. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for your replies, they are very helpful.

Actually my sites are not as nice as just "apples.com" and no one of them will probably get any tipe-in traffic, but I was mostly thinking about SERPs and promoting.
Other reason is that I have few domains I don't know what to do with, after I've picked one of them for my site, others are useless.
From all the above I guess the answer is that it won't help much for SERPs, so if we're talking about subdomain, can I still redirect another domain to it and also submit it to SE's and exchange links with it. Is it "legal" with google and ohers?

    thanks, Mike

It doesn't help in terms of SERP.
Better register similar domain names which users may type (wrongly), eg:
    bestapple.com
    best-apple.com
    best-apples.com

    pickapples.com
    pickapple.com

    and so on...
