It's been some time since I started thinking about learning the symfony framework.
I want your opinions on this. Is it worth it?

(To anyone that'll say "start your own framework": I have and I use it a lot - it's time to learn some more though. :p)

If you've ever had a phpBB based forum, it may be worth getting acquainted with Symphony.
Last time I visited their development forum (area51) there was some pretty strong talk of moving to Symphony for phpBB4.

Symphony gives a lot but also takes a lot, for instance it doesn't work well on shared hosting. I use Codeigniter and love it. Also CakePHP... they give you what you need from framework but are not so demanding as Symfony..

I have tried cakephp in the past but never really liked it.
It's just filled with stuff that I'll never need.
