Is it worth it to pay an SEO expert?

SEO gurus charge thousands for their services. Have you used any of them and what type of gaurantees did they offer? Also, do you ask them for examples of sites they did SEO on and how do you measure the success of it? What timelines is standard/acceptable to begin ROI? What is the likelihood that I can do my own bit of SEO research and replicate or even produce better SEO results than an "expert" would.

SEO gurus only charge thousands if you have a tons of work you need done. We charge by the hour, so the price always depends on the work provided.

    And I would say:
It's worth if it's SEO expert, but it isn't if it's SEO "expert" :)

Do some research. I subcontracted some services to a clients site last year to so called experts and ended up with a one month penalty. If they won't show you their track record, or sites they have worked on, or are making you promises then I would be inclined to walk the other way. Quality results cost. If you think you will get to the top for a few hundred, just remember you get what you pay for.

You will have to give the work to the freelancers and you will get good work at very cheapest rates. Here are the freelancers who work for just $250/month for full time.

Yes it is worth it, if they can show you some nice examples of their work, and you don't have much free time on your hands. You can surely do some bit of SEO yourself, and not only replicate the expert's work, but even do better than "some" of them. SEO is not rocket science.

If you can do it yourself, why you hire someone else ? just learning by doing, you get SEO experience and lesson, also a good position for your website...

it depends on the competition of the keywords and the niche... most of the time it take 3 months to see the result if you can figure out the google algorithm easily you'll surely have a good result than the experts.

The answer to your questions will be as varied as the results you get from any number of SEO experts. A good SEO expert will base their cost on results, and what your goals are. Tracking and conversion are also a good indication the person you're hiring can deliver. Just getting your site to the first page isn't enough, what do you want to accomplish with the potential traffic? Are you looking to increase sales, adsense revenue, affiliate marketing, etc.? There are good seo companies popping up that charge by results, in fact many are basing payment on what they can deliver before you even pay. I believe you're going to start to see more of this type of seo advertising as the market has far too many wanna-be experts who still think all you have to do is submit your site to all the search engines and they're done. SEO is an on going aspect of marketing, there's no such thing as set it and forget it with SEO.

If you do SEO yourself, you'll soon realize in order to do it well, you're looking at many hours of research and implementation. That is why you must decide what your time is worth. If you're making money already, then hiring out SEO would be the best solution, as it will free you up to do manage the money making parts of your business.

I know SEO well (no I'm not for hire) I can get just about any site to the first page, once I start to make money with a site, I outsource the SEO to free up my time.

    Enjoy ... Scott

Decide for yourself. If you’re selling a unheard of gadget that does not already have a volume of people searching Google, the media path may be the best starting point for you. However, if you sell common products and popular brands, an organic SEO campaign can yield a fantastic long-term ROI. I recommend continuing to hire additional resources to support the plan architect’d by your SEO Expert until the margin begins to plateau.

Yes, I think it's worth it. If they can show you some of their previous clients they have worked with before and also provide you with their list of tasks they include on their SEO Services. I think you should check these things before hiring them.

Why don't you pay commission on results. If you have a site that sells shoes for example....why don't you say...we sell 100 shoes a day...if you increase our search engine ranking thus our traffic we will make more sales...so everything over 100 sales/day you will get x% of the sale.

It's based on the overall competition and his/her experience in your industry. Sometimes it's worth to pay someone.

It depends on your website. The charges are applicable as per competition and work to be performed on website. There are several SEO experts firm who provides guarantee to get on top of major search engine pages. The representation of the firms is different.

Ya Agree but competition is not mattering in this case. Asker want to know weather it is right to hire a seo expert and give thousand of Rs.
From my point of view...It is correct way. One thing is very claer...If your website want to get business from Internet then it is necessary to get top....
and top come in top you need seo expert.

It is really worth to pay an expert. But before that you need to check whether they are really an expert or not . For that you can check their previous works output.
