Is it worth getting a macbook?

I don't need a macbook as I already have a laptop, but for some reason I really want one. Boys and their toys :p

I have never used a mac before so want to get some opinions as to the pros and cons of a macbook. I will be using it for general office type tasks, online work, etc.

Thats its, there is something about the mac that makes me want to buy one even though i know its probably not worth it. I think its mainly that they look good and like the idea of trying something different.

Are there any practical benefits like speed of running multiple applications, etc. ?

I would like a mac too, even if I don't use Adobe/Macromedia software. The idea of being different appeals ;)

If you can afford it, go for it. I switched to a Mac Book Pro about 18 months ago. After a week or so getting used to (a) the keyboard and (b) Mac OS X, I have never looked back. Computing has become FUN again, in a way it hasn't been since my old Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Plus, switching back and forth with Windows at work, I think my general computing skills have improved as well.

Yes, I am a shameless Mac fanboi.

If you enjoy working as little as possible, get the MacBook. It makes life so much easier and everything moves faster.

Buy a macbook, they're great. I'm in school and have a macbook with 4 gigs of RAM and it does whatever I need it too. If I were you and you had the extra money I would buy a macbook pro however if you are just the average consumer the macbook should be just fine for you. Plus it comes with iLife and iWork is only $80.00 and I think that it surpasses office in many areas.

    Just my thoughts,
