Is it worth developing a unique and high quality content site?

    Hi Everyone,

I've been very involved in the internet for maybe 5 years now. I was originally a freelance web designer and made some pretty good $$$. Now I'm interested in developing a site which makes money from ads.
First I tried making an arcade but for a huge amount of time and effort it only ended up making $50 a month. I also have started a proxy which is showing some good signs. I'll have to wait another month to see whether it does well or not though.

Now I'm thinking instead of making sites that anyone can make I should make a site with high quality unique content. None of this Arcade, Proxy, SMS, etc. sites that already thousands of people have made but a truly helpful site with rich and unique content.

I have decided that my best niche would be weightloss. I lost 44 pounds over 6 months last year and have been working out alot and now have what is considered the optimum body fat percentage.
I read and re-read any article I could on weight loss during those 6 months and have lot's of knowledge about this as well as real life experience.

But before I spend a large amounts of time and effort I want to know from people with experience if the time is worth it? I have alot of knowledge in SEO and will be making my site as SEO compatible as possible.

Let's say I write 6 lengthy articles covering everything I know and can find out about weightloss and make a site out of this. Assuming the content is very high quality and unique will all the effort be worth it? Will it become a site that with google adsense start making me some good money in return for my effort?

Basically will it be worth it? I'm only looking for answers from people who have themselves written unique and valuable content in a certain niche and have experienced the rewards. The more detail you can give me the better. Any stats like after the first month how many uniques you averaged a day is highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, having a site with unique content (that people like) is definitely worth it. It requires a little effort, but it definitely can pay off if you stick with it, improve upon what works well, and eliminate the failures with it.

Nice idea. You should go with High quality and informative content sites. For that first choose a topic. Find out the well paying keywords related to that topic and write the content. People as well as search engines like new contents...

Making high quality sites always work..

The only problem is that you need to define "high quality" correctly.

If you have content that is better than most sites in your niche - only then can you expect it to be successful.

    I think yes.

I've a unique content site with only 1 measly page (it's under construction and I'm lazy) on a new domain without any SEO work but I'm getting hits from SE.
