HI, I am planning to buy an established old domain name along with PR for promoting some of my niches. Do you think it is worth buying.. I would be gratefully thank if you could answer the following Qns. 1. Suppose I bought one domain along with PR5 2. Will the PR disappear when i upload fresh content or changing the server? 3. What about the current traffic inflow to the site? would there be any disturbances for that? 4. is there any relation with hosting provider for the PR? Looking for your reply. thanks,.
1, It really depends on the number and the quality of the backlinks. If you have lots of quality of backlinks in Google, chance are high that the PR of that domain will remain there. On the other hand, if the number of backlinks is low, it is more likely that the domain will lose its PR. You can check the link popularity of a domain with the use of some free online tools like www.checkpagerank.net 2. The amount of incoming traffic to a domain has nothing to do with the PageRank of a domain. 3. Again, there is no relationship between the hosting server and PageRank. It's the number of backlinks that matters. Hope it can clear your doubts.
Buying domains for PR purposes is not always the wisest investment. Many times people build PR by purchasing links short term. Once you buy the domain, those links may disappear and so will your PR on the next update. I have seen a few cases where people have several high ranking PR and link to sites just to build the PR of that site. They then turn around and sell the domain or site and shortly after remove the links. As far as changing servers, hosting, and content, this should have no effect if the original back links do not change. However, if you change the whole topics, sites linking to you may remove the links or Google may devalue them as unrelated links. The other problem would be if links are pointing to inner page, when you change the URL of those pages, the PR will be gone for all inner pages. PR should never be a main reason to buy a domain. Spend the higher money on a quality brand-able name instead of a PR value.
Thank you for the answer .. but I still have some doubts like.. There are many providers offering websites with pagerank, If i buy one of those - How can i make that in use without loosing the PR? I will be adding fresh contents It will be hosted on a new space I can keep the backlinks as it is (if something is there.) Need more info on it
Buying an existing domain can be a very good idea because it is aleardy bring in visitor traffic. The PR shouldn't drop if you continue the content in a similar fashion i.e if it's a personal finance domain then stick with finance related subjects. Ensure that you develop a consistent link building strategy by blogging on do dollow blogs and posting on forums like this. PR is all linked to how you build links to other sites and depends upon how successful you are at it.
The PR shouldn't change if you move from server. It also shouldn't change if it switches hands from owner to owner. It should remain the same as long as there isn't a drastic change in the content and you continue to maintain the website
The one thing I'd be careful of--and I say this as someone with a dozen PR 3 web sites that get their PR from a PR 5 site I have--seems like you want to be careful that your PR 5 site isn't getting its juice from a single PR 6 or PR 7 web site that the seller controls. I,e, seems like you could lose your PR 5 almost overnight if the seller removes the link to your PR 5 site... Just a thought.
You should have no problems at all, just make sure you set up redirects for any old pages you take down or delete so you do not lose this traffic and you should be good to go.
So, Buying established domains with PR is worth unless and untill the backlinks are not removed , Could anyone provide me with some legitimate websties who sells these kinds of domains. Thank you all .
