I have recentley started learning python, i know all the basics, got a big tutorial book (which is awesomely written). but as some as you know it sometimes gets a bit overwhelming and i feel as if i want to go on to a different project, therefore i have just bought a C++ book (by the same author) and i am beginning to look in to learning that too, now i work full time so at the moment i only dabble in the codes on an evening. Is it wise to be learning both at the same time? Both the languages are completely different (i wouldnt do python and php etc). Also, Is it possible to become as good as anyone else at programming via teaching myself via online tutorials and books? do i have as much chance of making a career out of it as someone who has gone to college and uni, all the stories ive heard of people going to uni and college theyve learnt more at home or dropped out completely to focus on personal programming tasks. do i have a chance?
Can you learn Spanish and French at the same time? Don't try it. Get good at one first. About getting a job, many people, including myself, never took programming in college yet now make the big bucks doing so. However, many ill-informed businesses still require that piece of paper over knowledge and ability. It's good to see a lot of job ads now advertising "degree or experience", though.
