is it unusual for new adsense ad to be displaying only public service announcements?

is it unusual for new adsense ad to be displaying only public service announcements? I put an adsense 468x60 block up but have only seen Public announcements. Does it take a while for real ads to show? Thanks in advance.

 

Yep. Just a few hours i think.
And it's also normal to show relevant ads just after you insert the AS code. (don't ask me why maybe because of the contet, i don't know )

If in a few days there still aren't ads, I would contact google to see if there is an issue with the ad bot indexing the content.

 

there are of course keywords that appear strictly censured by Google and may always result in public ads to appear.
after all G is US and US-people sometimes have severe problems talking about certain topics of life

 

You should try finding alternative advertisements to put in there in the interim.

Add:
google_alternate_ad_url="[add alternate URL here]";

I use an amazon banner.
