"A new domain that has received significant buzz and attention in the online and offline media, along with tens of thousands of natural links" - as each of the other situations have many examples of having very difficult times ranking well. from seomoz. does it mean, if your site are a new one, even you got many natural links, and your site hard to got good position in google serp?
As per my knowledge your domain age will play a big role go get higher ranking for some competitive keywords.
Yes, domain age play a big role in getting higher ranking because old domain has already gain google trust.
New sites can get good renking, but not on very competative keywords, but if they have all these netural links, it wont be long till they will have good SERP on even the hardest key words, i say 5-6 month.
it's one of the criterias . and there is an age delay criteria for the google. this will be so important for that example
From what I've read, if your site is new and create a great deal of buzz and a large number of backlinks in a hurry, then that will look suspicious. There is a good post about social media campaigns and viral marketing on SEObook. seobook.com/3-ways-get-screwed-social-media-marketing It's basically based on the premise that viral marketing can be good, but not too good, otherwise it will look spammy.
think about it. new buss probally means new keyword hence no box maybe i am dreaming but i would love to think if a site or article was that good it would still float up, competitive or not
It should be noted that a "Press Release" posted by a major pr site ranks at the top within days. This is due to the traffic to the Press Release. But as the traffic slows down, it starts to drop. Therefore there is "Traffic" and "Trust" at play.
Interesting but I think there must be some threshold at which Search Engines recognize the difference between marketing campaigns and true viral popularity (and perhaps authority)
