I think it's true to say that a successful affiliate will make more than an unsuccessful vendor. But it's also worth keeping in mind the basic mathematics. As an affiliate you are limited to a certain percentage of the total price - as a vendor you get 100%. If two equally talented marketers are selling a product - one as vendor, one as affiliate - the former is going to come out ahead. It depends on your list size too. If you have a small list, you won't be able to do convert any much sales from it.
I think both vendors and affiliates depends on the list of customers they have both can beat each other in their sales
