Hi, This is my second post and I would request all you experience people to help me out. The matter is, I have heard from one my friend (who is also in the SEO industry) that, if you are getting link from a related category or page then the main theme of the website does not matter from Google's point of view. For example: 1. Say I handle some real estate websites and as per my logic I would always desire to exchange links with sites related to real estate, mortgage or any financial sites. But as per my friends logic if a SEO website (means the main theme of the site is SEO work) has a page on real estate category and if I get a link from that real estate page then it won't harm my website. As the category is related to my website. So it does not matter if the website (where I have got the link from) theme is SEO work. 2. If a website which has main theme related to the porn industry, creates a sub-domain under it which is related to real estate and if I get link from that sub-domain. Then also it won't harm my website. As the sub-domain has a real estate theme. So doesn't matter if the main theme of the website is related to porn industry from Google's point of view. Now I am quite doubtful that how far he is correct. So I request all you experience people to give your thoughts. So I can come to a conclusion and will be able to change my friends view if his explanation is proven to be wrong. Waiting for the inputs from you all. Thanks...
To my knowledge no links truly harm your site. Related links are best. A related page is better then an unrelated page. A related site is likely better then just a related page... but again, none of them will likely hurt you. Unless maybe if it's obviously paid...
Ditto. Work on getting one way links from relevant sites i.e. preferably in a similar/same niche but with non-competitive sites with good PR and some authority. Do the same with niche specific forums, article directories blogs etc using sigs or bio boxes. Cheers
