Is it true that google gives upper hand to older domains?

Domain age plays a role, but content age is more important

 

I don't know if they prefer older domains but if a domain is around longer obviously google will have crawled it more often and it will get a better ranking, of course that doesn't mean if another site which has better backlinks etc won't have a better ranking than the older domain.

 

I do think that the age of domain is important (as it is taken as a criterion while calculating the worth of a domain) but I have seen many low PR sites outranking high PR sites in the SERP. So google gives more importance to content, number of backlinks when compared to the age, imo

 

yes i also think the same, old is gold no doubt, but there are other things, that are more important than only to be old.

 

Does 'Age' refer to when the domain was first registered - or when it was first indexed?

 

I think google get old domains a good priority
