I don't know if they prefer older domains but if a domain is around longer obviously google will have crawled it more often and it will get a better ranking, of course that doesn't mean if another site which has better backlinks etc won't have a better ranking than the older domain.
I do think that the age of domain is important (as it is taken as a criterion while calculating the worth of a domain) but I have seen many low PR sites outranking high PR sites in the SERP. So google gives more importance to content, number of backlinks when compared to the age, imo
yes i also think the same, old is gold no doubt, but there are other things, that are more important than only to be old.
