Is it true that Facebook is launching a Search Engine?

That is a rather suspect answer; I don't believe it.

 

It's true, they are making a social ranking based search engine now...I don't know when it's going to be released or ever going to be. But I'm interested in using it for fun.

 

maybe I'm wrong but Google bought facebook a few years ago...........

 

Might be a gossip.Talking about search engine, Google is far better than all others.

 

Facebook can compete google in search engine at least with Bing because already millions of people get online together on Facebook and i dont think they would not make searches directly through facebook.

 

If you look at what Facebook has started doing, it's obviously got more in mind than it plans. It has over 700 million users, it has just launched Facebook mail, it has developed Facebook as a whole social development platform and positioned itself to distribute its advertising throughout the net.

Facebook leaping into search is not that big of a stretch. Microsoft owns part of Facebook and if you don't think there's plans to integrate Bing (or perhaps a modified version of it) directly into the social networking site, think again. You see it somewhat now when you do a search, some Bing results are returned.

Watch for major developments on this front now, especially since Google just fired a bullet with its launch of Google+

 

This news is truly amazing, Facebook with personal and Google general, I sure hope both will work for our benefit.

 

It would be a good step for FB, realistically they are probably one of the only entities that can challenge Google. With FB being an everyday part of so many peoples lives, it would make sense for them to use an FB engine as they are already on Facebook, as opposed to visiting Google. Could be interesting times ahead, for sure!

Facebook will be going through lots of changes over these next few months and new features added. I've also heard a new GUI is being privately tested in its alpha stage.

 

google doesn't own fb
but i don't think fb needs its own SE

 

Would be interesting if its true, they both need competition. And when 2 big companies are competing against each other, customers will win. And that would be us!

 

I haven't hear any reports or even rumors suggesting that they would.

I think it would be a bad move.

They need to keep the focus on social networking and not move into to many different directions.

Agree that Facebook needs to worry about its social network specialy since Google plus was launched and has pretty good reviews from its limited audience. I see many people getting sick of facebook feeds which is also what makes Facebook sticky.

 

i heard this rumor couple months ago. hope rumors come true. i will love to see a search engine from facebook.
