It's not good for traffic just for your position in the serps.... if you want traffic try social networks they work for me!

 

I find directories useful especially directories which are already established and have a high PR this works wonders as a microsite. If you can find a well established directory at a reasonable price i would make the investment.

Of course it is. But its worth figuring out quality directories by yourself and submitting in them than randomly submitting to 1000s of them.. A quality directory would have a lot of guidelines set to maintain their quality and they wont accept spam sites, sites made only for ad contents etc..

I myself is getting lot of traffic for my sites from the directories I have put.. I have selected 50-100 quality directories and really spend money on them to get listed.

 

Traffic is different with PR. All kind of link Buildings just try to increase PR. If you have high PR and good Keyword Ranking, you have good position in search results with your targeted keywords, high chance to get more traffic. Directory submission is only one way to get back links to increase PR.

Wow, I never realized how down people were on directory traffic. I can't say I've ever done a lot of directory submission, but I suppose I don't expect much traffic from them now!

Problem with directory submission is the fact of being time consuming with undefined results... what's working for someones might not work for others.

i dont think directory submissions would directly get you much traffic. however it helps get you better serp rank for targeted keywords and this get traffic from that.

1.Forum posting
2.Social networking sites
3.Link exchange.

It seems every one agree on: Directories don't give traffic, If traffic is not from directory sites then people don't visit them; if people don't visit them; what is benefit to directory owner? he spend money on hosting, development charges etc.
