Recently, I put some of Amazon affiliate link in my website...(a long one, generate buy amazon like www .amazon. com/gp/fpvjwebv/efkdjivodfjiodvd af.........) And suddenly my serp drop...and when I use site:www.domain.com, my site that used to show full detail Example... Adidas shoes sale, buy now adidas shoes sale here. buy it and you won't disappoint....... ......................................................................... mydomain.com and this is all left now in google page... mydomain.com/adidas-mv949ab.html not content or header left just these line left... So tried now....
I have a feeling that the problem is not that you HAVE the link, but the link itself. Make sure you have it in the proper place and that it is not interfering with anything else on the site.
"Google hates aff link" that's what they say. For my new site, I prefer to put the link in image/banner with strong call to action. Google don't follow links in banner, and the CTR is better (just my experience).
So Google like affiliate links on a site? So if that's the case what if my affiliate link is cloaked?
I wouldn't say affiliate links are a problem, missing content or affiliate content only is. Many affiliate sites are tailored too much toward making visitors click affiliate links only and neglegt content that interests people. So, build a site and include affiliate links, don't build a site around affiliate links.
I think amazon link can reduce your serp ranking, but it can help boost your alexa ranking that is for sure.
I don't think this is true because I have always used affiliate links on my sites and blogs, and have not experienced and of the issues pointed out here. I think I will check again though
Don't think it's true. Look at how well sites that only have affiliate links rank. Sites like coupon mountain or retail me not. They are just a collection of affiliate links, including amazon, and they rank very well for so many keyword phrases.
Personally I strongly doubt if this is true. Many, many high ranking sites link to affiliates (including amazon) so why not punish them? Although it could be a combination of factors - a new site with links to amazon might be harder to rank than an established site. Also even if you redirect the link or put it via a banner, google can still follow the link and see the destination page. Cloaking the link (i.e. sending google bot somewhere else) is a good way to get penalised in google.
For what it is worth, I've got lots of sites that are PR 3 to PR 4 promoting Amazon that have links that aren't cloaked. Also, I know quite a few folks that have sites that do not have cloaked affiliate links and they are doing very well. Best, Brad
I'd say if your site contains high quality content in addition to the amazon links, it shouldn't be a problem. I just started a new site 6 weeks ago and I have some amazon links on it and have made two sales so far-not bad considering the site is only getting 40 visits a day right now. It's slow movin!
2 sales!!! wow, I have been promoting amazon links since december but zero sales, what's your secret?
Google themselves say that they have hundreds of factors that influence the SERP of a page. I am sure the presence of affiliate links is something they do take into consideration and as somebody said, if your site has quality content which is NOT just geared at getting people to buy, then the presence of affiliate links need not influence your SERPs negatively. If all you are doing is offering aff links, then of course Google will penalise you - I have lost many a site like that
It is ok to have as many affiliate links on your site as you want, but what is frowned upon is when you are blatantly selling links. Of course you have the right to do what ever you want with your site, but Google will almost certainly come down hard. I've lost a few sites on the SERP myself, so I'm speaking from experience
