We all know that looks are very important when it comes to website and one person told me the other day that my forum just looks OK. is that true ? European Topics So i want to ask you guys, does it look good ? Does it catches your eye ? i personally have seen many ugly forums and mine looks good "i think". Tell me what i need to change and what looks good. Thanks P.S. free do-follow signature link after 15 post from a PR3 forum, for those that are looking for links.
Hi Adminworld I think your forum looks pretty good - clean and friendly looking. My suggestion is: you could do a little something to promote your USP (unique selling point). You haven't got much branding going on except your logos. And even then - there are three of these, quite similar, but no indication of their relationship to each other. A quick way to add a ton more about who you are/what you are is simply to add a "strapline" under the main logo. The best ones are "aspirational" in nature - saying, or hinting at, what visitors to the forum might hope to achieve, or think (or imagine) they might hope to achieve. Done right, this can give you a much stronger identity and help to bind your visitors together into a shared identity too. I hope this helps Oh - saw a few good European jokes there too! Best, Malc
It looks OK ... I feel it is a rather standard phpBB theme, all unmodified icons and the main layout seems semi standard too. Nothing wrong with that though ...
I didn't like those two linked images to your homepage and blog on the right.. I mean, they are spoiling your logo on the left... the design isn't ugly..it clean...fill up the white spaces a bit so that your forum doesn't give an empty impression...
Thats guys. Malc, you gave a good point. I will look into this. The problem is that i will need 3 of them for all 3 logos and i am scared that it will get over crowded. + I need really "good" strap lines and that is not easy to do. Anyways, thanks for the idea and i will look into this. Anyone else has something to say ? Good or bad i want to hear it all. Thanks
I like the default phpbb template, because it's classic, simple and easy to use. As said somewhere above, I'd add gradient to the header background. You can use x-repeated gif or CSS3 gradient, which I found quiet useful. Check gradientcss.com or google it for more info.
The site does not look terrible, but it could use some cleaning up. For aesthetics, you want to create a visual flow that is pleasing to the eye. Currently, the blue banner section has no flow. The images do not have a consistent spacing or sizing scheme. Also, you have the "world" logo with the stars behind each block of text. I would save this to be just one world logo, and make that your background for the banner. I also would make it a bit bigger, and leave the text to be its own aspect. Remember, user interface is about creating a look where each object either stands alone or compliments another piece. It's an art. Thus, you do not have to include "the whole map" for your background, but maybe just a zoomed in version. You also don't have to keep a "all blue" theme, but can use complimentary colors, such as golds, light yellows, and such. From a book Robin Williams (not the comedian), you should focus on C.R.A.P. Contrast Repetition Alignment Proximity I found a nice link about this to help give you more information (warning, it's a PDF): http://www.presentationzen.com/chapter6_spread.pdf The Web site of the author: http://www.peachpit.com/authors/bio.aspx?a=e26dd8f0-52aa-4ce5-9852-28f3fa1e3417 The title of the book is The Non-Designer's Design Book. Look at sites you think look good, and write down what it is that you like about them. Try to emulate that. When you see enough designs that you think look good, you can start to see different patterns for what works, when it works, and how best to do it. Good luck! You're on the right track by asking questions.
We all LOVE this site. It's not ugly; please do not underrate the great work you did. Obviously looks better than before. I'm a communication specialist by profession, so i will say: Create a punchline under the logo something like "Digital Point-Let's make freelancing POINT FULL" It's just an example; The logo needs to be improved (Let it represent, you are the best and the most creative forum in www) It's not as catchy as freelancer.com, but your moderator's make us feel it is Room for improvement is always there. An honest opinion. Hope it helps
The design is ok but it look not so friendly usage as last time. At 1st I wash thought digital point sold to other admin or somehow. Lucky is back to normal.
OK... so there are like 5 people already saying that i need a slogan. I guess i do. I will defiantly add a slogan late on. Thanks for that. Anything else ? Some fonts ? colors ? Or some cool new plugins that i need to install ? Also, how can i make more unique ? (without adding some crazy colors)
