I am currently using NameCheap's "shared" webhosting, professional package to host my websites. http://www.namecheap.com/web-hosting/web-hosting.aspx I like this option b/c at ~$7 a month, the fixed costs are so low, its hard not to turn a profit through adsense. I'd like to keep from paying anything that doesn't provide me return on investment. Problem is that one day I went to the site and it was temporarily shutdown due to too much resource usage. Why? After talking to support and looking at my cpanel usage logs, it appears my CPU usage has been surpassing the max between 25-100x per day! Is it time to upgrade? As the extent of my knowledge is using cpanel/wordpress, which of the other packages they offer would be the best? Do I need a dedicated IP for all my sites, or one per website? I unfortunately just recently renewed my hosting with them so upgrading for a marginal extra cost now is the only option, but if you know of better options available through other hosts then I'd be open to that a year from now once this expires, too. Thanks!
See attached for the last 7 days of CPU usage based on CPanel's Resource Usage Log. I'm regularly hitting 100% of my available CPU usage, I'd estimate based on the report they give me in table format, approximately 1/3 of the time.
Im assuming your website is wordpress based? Also how much space and bandwidth do you use? For $7 a month you should be able to find another webhost who is able to manage(depending on your space/bandwidth usage)
Agreed, there are billions of WP hosts out there, competition is fierce, you should be able to get a better deal with more performance
