    Hello,

I am fascinated by HTML5 combined with killer CSS3.
The combination is as deadly and truly amazing!

However, most browsers still do not support HTML5 and CSS3. Example: IE7 (which people are still using) and Google / Facebook / Twitter are supporting it, STILL.

I wonder if it is time to code in HTML5 and CSS3.

    What do you guys think?

To make things easier, I have put a poll.

I just mentioned how clueless you are in the other thread and here you are again spouting off like you know what you're talking about. Quit making a fool of yourself. The ONLY browser that does not support HTML5 and CSS3 is IE!

We could all go on a rampage about how much IE sucks, but fact is there are patches even for IE that enable HTML5. Let's not forget that HTML5 still hasn't officially been finished yet. Given this doesn't effect designers so much (since most of those tags listed within the W3C) but standards and new tags are changing and being created... so technically NO BROWSER fully supports HTML5.0, because it isn't done being developed.

CSS2.1 wasn't "finished" till just last year so did you wait till then to start using CSS?
Standards are based on implementation, not invention, and HTML5 will not be finalized till there are two complete implementations in browsers.

You shouldn't do a personal attack on someone.
If IE is SO BAD, Why Facebook, Google, Youtube, etc support. Hell! Why even bother a cufon hack for custom fonts?
Boy! Learn some professionalism. Get into a profession then, talk to your daddy.

Dump responses are treated for what they are.
Working around IE9's shortcomings does not make IE9 a good browser. In fact, having to work around IE9 is its failing. Your very statement proves you know nothing of this topic and should stop posting now.
I've been running my own development company for  7 years and have 10 employees. I've been in the computing industry since 1980. I worked at Pixar when Pixar made hardware. But you didn't know Pixar once made hardware cause you're too young and have no experience in the business.

HTML5 and CSS3 are awesome, but there are big problems because there are browser that doesn't support them and that's very bad for web developers.

It is something to consider but ultimately it depends on your user base and what browsers they use most often. Such as mine, who don't use internet explorer. They use chrome and firefox. Weigh what you gain from coding in HTML as opposed to ASP.NET/AJAX or something else and see if the potential gain outweighs the shortcomings. Everyone is heading towards HTML5, it is just taking time for implementation.

I can't choose either option for the poll.  I use CSS3 a lot but haven't jumped on the HTML5 bandwagon yet.  I use progressive enhancement techniques to reward users of modern browsers with a more appealing site.  Some of my sites present different CSS to different browsers.  I don't think HTML5 and CSS3 will really takeover until IE8 dies off.

It's definitely time! HTML5 is a huge improvement over XHTML in every possible way (semantic tags, video, canvas), it will finally allow us to enjoy a flash/Silverlight free browsing experience. CSS3 on the other hand makes it possible to use less images/hacks. So it's definitely a win win

yeah definately its the only time ..................HTML5 improves interoperability and reduces development costs by making precise rules on how to handle all HTML elements, and how to recover from errors.
Some of the new features in HTML5 are functions for embedding audio, video, graphics, client-side data storage, and interactive documents. HTML5 also contains new elements like <nav>, <header>, <footer>, and <figure>.
