    The number 1 site in my niche has a few dozen domains each consisting of a very simple 1 page - something like that:

    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META NAME="description" content="--">
    <META NAME="keywords" content="--">
    <TITLE>some title</TITLE>

    </HEAD>
    <FRAMESET ROWS="100%,*" BORDER="0" FRAMEBORDER="0">
    <FRAME SRC="http://The number 1 site" SCROLLING="AUTO" NAME="bannerframe" NORESIZE>
    </FRAMESET>
    <NOFRAMES>
    some text
    <P>
    <DIV ALIGN="CENTER"><A HREF="http://the number1 site">http:// one of the many domain names /</A></DIV>
    </NOFRAMES>
    </HTML>

    To be more clear you see the number 1 site's home page .

    All of those domain have some PR -3-4-5 achieved by heavily spamming guestbooks , forums , blogs etc .

    Question is - does that technique really help them be on top, or at least it doesn't seem to hurt at all. The competition is not too fierce - about 4 500 000 results in google.

    So is that just a way of improving PR as there's no anchor text pointing to the site number one , however keywords are relevant? Or does it affect their ranking?

    Any comment would be very much appreciated
