Ireland is in fact two countries. You have Northern Ireland which is part of the UK, and as such does accept civil partnership ceremonies (they can not get married in the uk as marrieage is a religious ceremony, and civil weddings take place in registrars offices.

I am not sure about Southern Ireland (Eire) But as it is staunch catholic, I doubt very much that same sex partnerships are accepted.

I think we should be permitted to live just as everyone else does. We're the same underneath it all. Why can't we love and live the same as others? I say we because I happen to be lesbian myself.

I have plenty of friends that are gay, and I don't see any problem with it. Homosexuality is not a choice, it is how people are born. It's not fair to expect someone to change their natural instincts just to conform to society.

I just don't understand how people can condemn homosexuality as they do murder or infidelity. As I said earlier, I do not believe that it is something that anyone chooses.

But sin is something that everyone can refrain from,
even if the person is born in a criminal family....

Same is the case with homosexuality!

Two gay men is out of order....
Two gay women.... well it depends if they're hot :p

    Ok, joking aside now.....

Homosexuality doesn't bother me, each to their own I say......but I do wonder what it's all about.

Humans must procreate for the survival of the species yet homosexuality is counter-productive in evolutionary terms. All species of plant and animal strive to pass on their genetic material by way of offspring, yet homosexual reproduction in humans isn't possible. So you have to wonder why homosexuality would have come about and survived through generations. That's supposing homosexuality is hard coded into DNA. It may well be environmental influences that affect children early on in life that dictates their sexual orientation.

Just another one of those puzzles we'll probably never find the answer to :)

Moq, everyone has their own ideas about what "sin" is.

Upon reading the beginning of this thread, I had to say I was quite disappointed at the lack of intelligent posts. I'm glad to see the "smart factor" has picked up a bit further down. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

In regards to a beginning post, I think children have better things to worry about than being raised by two dads or two moms. Please! That remark smacks of intolerance and ignorance. Furthermore, gays and lesbians should be allowed to love who they love. Just as straight people cannot help who they have feelings for, the same applies to homosexuals. People are people, and should not be persecuted because of their sexual orientation. It's not something anyone chooses; it just is.

Beyond that, I must say in response to earlier comments -- sorry guys, but it's a double standard to feel that women together is hot, while men together is something to be ridiculed. Another ignorant comment. Oh, and not all women have this deep seated desire to be with other women, believe it or not!

    That's my two cents.

Thanks for your post.....well, let's face it....a lot of people still dont accept homosexuals in our society...but we're all humans anyway. we all have sins and we have our own beliefs and comments with regards to this kind of situation.

But whether you are straight, gay or lesbians, we should learn to respect each other and the choices that we made.
So what if the person is gay? What's important is the person's personality.

It is a Shame if you are straight and you know nothing about Respect.

Just a quick question about gay terminology....

Lesbians = gay women...right?.....but I've never heard a word for gay men.Is there an alternative word for gay men too?If not, why is there one for women and how did it come about?

I know its perhaps a little off topic, but I have always wondered and maybe someone can clear that up for me :) Thanks!!

Yes, gay use for both men and women.

So I heard both gay men and gay women. Gay men usually use only 'gay' sometime, queer. hmm what else???

Why this topic back again? seem started for a long time already.

I'm quite sure the use of "queer" when referring to gay people is derogatory.

I was just wondering if there was a politically correct male version of "lesbian" :)
