The original post is just asking for peoples opinions. We can talk about these issues without the republican/democrat nonsense creeping in. The word shameful cannot be applied to being gay/lesbian. I think we should be ashamed for living such materialistic, superficial, wasteful, self absorbed and extravagant lives while 33% of the world lives is absolute poverty.
Ah, my mistake. I thought that any discussion about rights was a political one in nature, my apologies if I have offended.
I would just like to start out by saying that I am both an American, and a Christian. It is not my place, or the place of any other Christian to force my or their values on another. While my understanding of Christianity forbids certain Homosexual acts, I do not feel that I have any place to tell another who they should, or should not love, and do not feel that the morality philosophy of any group of Christians should be forced on the American public through legislation. My understanding of Christianity also tells me specifically that it is not my place to judge others.
You have the right to believe in what you want to believe in. You also have the right to love who you want to love. Homosexuals deserve the same rights, and you are not one to force judgement upon them simply because you don't agree with homsexuality.
Pleasure, intimacy with a loved one, weight loss, and the endorphins released help fight the common cold. Those are the other 4 I can think of. I miss any of yours Mistermix?
In Christianity is also a Sin to lie, however this is not Illegal unless one uses those lies to commit fraud. It is also a Sin to place another religion or philosophy before Christianity, yet it is Un-Constitutional to make this illegal. Just because, according to your understanding of your religion something is a sin does not necessarily mean that it should also be Illegal in America, as two of the founding principles of this Country are freedom of religion, and religious tolerance.
Those who are without sin can cast the first stone. And honestly, I highly doubt there's anyone on this board who hasn't "sinned" at one point or another. With that being said, live and let live people! What two partners do in a consenting, committed relationship isn't any business of ours, whether they are gay OR straight.
DeniseJ: And I am not a man who has not sinned. In my recolection there has been only one such man. That is why I do not place myself in any place of judgement. Now, that's not to say that a Christian shouldn't be a US Judge, but they shouldn't be judging based on Christian values in the first place, but on as unbiased an understanding of the law that they can arive at. And I agree that what two consenting adults do in their bedroom should be their own buisness, so long as it does not involve illegal substances, ploting a crime, or a 3rd party that is not a consenting human adult.
I wasn't able to read the whole thread.. but IMHO there's no reason to be ashame of living as a gay or lesbian. there's nothing wrong with it. it's just being real... the problem with our society is that most people are so judge mental without realizing that they have their own mess in their lives.
Messed up life? What’s that? I’m overweight, short on sleep, 25, and just finally got my first entry level position this last week. I still battle with anger issues, and find myself snapping at people far to often still. Yep. I definitely need to work on my life.
I think of it this way. We are humans, God created us with pieces of us to reproduce. It was meant for males and females to be attracted to eachother and reproduce. Being a homosexual I find a little odd. Yes, how us men see two men as sick, while two women are sexy. The reason that is I believe is that we don't really see the women as attracted, more just to entertain men. While two men are really together to be gay, and they are actually more girl than guy. Anyways, they can do what they want, I couldn't care less about what others do with their life in that manner. Just my two cents.
If everyone hates homosexuals so much, then why are we always the topic of controversial conversations, why do we always get gossiped about in the news, why do we always get questioned about? Do people talk about us just because we're so cool? I think so.
