Oh no, it's against religion... let's sound the alarms, because we all know religion is always right.

    Please.

because they have some sort of complex that causes them to judge people on a strange level that no one else understands. (besides christians)

That "complex" would be the Bible, that usually only Christians understand, and few of them actually read. Then when you mix in the lazy folks that read a few verses and call it good you are stuck with all kinds of silly assumptions and non-Christians saying that those people are crazy.

However in the case of homosexuality it really does require ignoring the commands of the bible (old and new testament) to live that way, and since it is a lifestyle (choice <--- is that ever a can of worms) you really can't claim to be "trying to stop". So basically to claim to believe in the God of the Bible and be a non-recovering-homosexual does amount ultimately to an incompatibility.

All Christians struggle with sin, it's the struggle, aka resistance, that shows them approved. From my study of the Bible it is not the Christian's place to judge unbelievers... I'll stop there before some weekend warrior quotes Luke 6:37 aka Matthew 7:1. The favorite of people who condense their bible down to a dozen or so key verses.

This is true. Do you know who Focus on the Family is? They are a nazi christian organization here in Colorado. My girlfriend and I went to a big citywide debate they had about homosexuality a few months back. Those were the first verses that were brought up. It was a fun filled night of gay bashing and flag burning by the supposed leaders of one of the largest "christian" organizations in the country. good times! Really made me respect their narrowminded hate based point of view (sarcasm)

Oh yes, I'm quite familiar. There are a lot of really good people there and even Dr. Dobson really tries to be a good influence. They may be like nazis but Dobson is not Hitler. Hitler was bent on evil, Dobson is trying really hard to do good. In fact there were actually nazis that were trying to do good.

I think people like Dobson just get too big for their britches. They have hundreds if not thousands of staff underneath of them and frankly lose touch with reality. Most of "his" opinions come from an office full of think-tankers that help him be "informed".

Anyway, if a person claims to be a Christian then they are ultimately subject to God. People in the church often participate in guiding and teaching, including judging right from wrong. This works well, especially for folks that learn to take the good and leave the bad. However, for people who do not subject themselves to God they are out there on their own. What good does it do to criticize them? Why even mention lifestyle when they don't even believe? If I didn't believe I wouldn't care what some churchy thought about my lifestyle.

I think a church can stand together and say, we don't want our nation to disobey God. They can vote that way, they should even be allowed to campaign and advertise that way. When it comes down to it I'd venture that they don't change anyone's opinions. It is strange how Christianity really is the only freedom of speech that seems to get censored these days. Kinda makes me think there might be more to things then just what we see. :-\

I can respect your point of view. I wish there was more of a separation of church and state like there is supposed to be. Why do we swear to god when we get on the stand in court? Why is the president sworn in with a bible? I honestly don't mind christianity, I just dont want it to be part of our legal system or government. Most european countries have a REAL separation of the two.

Why separated it... ? I think the government should not take the issue of sex and gender a taboo... Please let people have their own decision...

I say let people do what makes them happy, if they aren't hurting anyone it's really nobody else's business.

Homosexuality does present an interesting evolutionary challenge, but we aren't exactly experiencing a population deficit either.

Homosexuality is part of evolution, everything is.

The more gay men the better. It means I have a better chance with the girls.

Gay people are people just like everybody else. They don't deserve to be ridiculed and harassed for their sexual preference. One day I hope we can live in a world where people are judged on their character, rather than whether they like boys or girls, what their skin color is, what religion they practice, etc. etc. etc.

I'm sorry if anyone finds this question offensive, but since "Legal rights" was brought up in the first post, and since so much politics and religion are being discussed... why isn't this topic in the politics and religion sub forum?
