Is It SEO Friendly to Republish Someone's Article on Our Website with Article courtesy?

I've recently found that my original article has been republished on another website by mentioning Article courtesy of SocialTimes | RSS Feed.

So, I just wondered that is it SEO friendly to do so? Would it hurt my website as I'm getting the backlink from the new website as well?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Linking to the source doesn't grant you permission to use the article.

This is not hurt your website, Using your site as SOURCE is good. However, if the site copy your FULL CONTENT, then, it might be bad for your site as well as the website too!

It depends on what kind of website you have. We all know that this is very common in case of web article directories. And, that is their main reason why they exist. Still they rank well for what they stand for. But, other webs get hurt by this content distribution act. You should ask them to remove your content. It is great if they only quote a few lines of content and then link back to your articles. Like, most of the job aggregator sites pick job posts from other sites but they also show the excerpts and then redirect back to the original source of the content.

Google are taking a dimmer view on this, one thing to remember is google want all content to be orginal, so if at any point it isn't its not good. Press release sites and article directories are slowly disappearing.
