Is it safe to use my Adwords account on behalf of my Client?

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by aceofadsense, Jan 28, 2012.

Hey Guys - I have got my first freelance PPC project. My Client wants me to use my adwords account and he would provide me the coupons to run the campaigns. I am worried about getting my account banned if at all the landing page does not comply with the terms. Please guide me how to go over this situation.

    Thank You.

Never, ever use your own account to manage client campaigns. Yes, you can get your account banned if the client does not follow all rules and guidelines. Plus, you're on the hook for all costs. What if they don't pay? Also, it's better for the client, it should be their account after all and you may not be around later.

If you are going to manage client accounts, you better know the rules inside/out. You are aware only one coupon per account, right? Also, you can provide better service if you are familiar with all rules and can even decline to manage an account. I've done that when I know or realize the relationship likely won't last long anyway just because they refuse to comply.

Are you aware of MCC accounts? That's how you manage many client accounts effectively. A MCC also provides protection to you and the client as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I am aware of MCC. But when the client is not bothered to create an adwords account whats the point linking it?

Just create a new account anyway as if it was your clients. Do it under a different email and set it up.
This will not affect your personal PPC account.

Of course, if the client won't give you his CC, you'll have to use your own. And as soon as you do that, all accounts under that CC are linked. You're still liable if the client doesn't pay you or seriously violates the guidelines that may get all your accounts banned. I think it's too much of a risk.

I don't believe it's possible to create an account using just a coupon. Google will want to protect itself and get paid once the coupon runs out and they do that with a CC.

If your client won't create his/her own account then i wouldn't consider them a serious client. Move on and don't lose your own account or any of your own money.

YaY!!! Thanks a ton guys..I know this is not a serious client, but I am trying to kick off my first freelancing project. So, I am trying to push him to create one on his own and give me the access. Anyways, can someone help me out in finding a client for PPC freelancing or I can partner with someone who already have a bunch of clients and want to ramp up.

Almost everyone who is ready to give me some freelancing work is asking me to run on the project on my account. Not sure, how the other freelancers are handling clients. Shall I straight away reject people who have no adwords?

That's what I do. You don't have your own account and expect me to use my own, I say no thanks.

Those kinds of people have more than likely already had their account banned. That's why they ask because they can't open a new one. They were not willing to make the changes necessary to get unbanned with their own, what makes you think they will with your account? They are in Google's bad books so I don't take them. I also don't take new clients where I see there will be a problem with their site and unwilling to change it. It's much better to get clients who will listen to you and develop a long-term relationship than "outlaws" who don't and won't stay around long in the first place.

When you set up an account, there is an option to pay a fixed amount in advance, rather than have an undefined amount on a cc

You might want to take the time to explain to your client that they will have to use their own cc.

Tell them in your words that this will be beneficial for both of you. Make sure to point out good advantages for them.

I think you should not use your own account. You should to create new account for that particular project and client. You should warn to your client that if you not follow term & Conditions of Adwords then this Adwords account will be banned and your site can penalize.

    Cheers :)
