Hi, I want to sell a established website to a new member in a forum, is it safe to receive the payment using PayPal? What should I do if the buyer chargeback after getting the domain and files? Thanks
If the payment amount is high then you should wait for at least 24 hours before sending over the files to the buyer. Otherwise use Escrow Service.
Trust me if the dispute is over electronic goods you are pretty much screwed if the Buyer tries to charge back I am guessing in the course of year I have prob had close to or over 100 disputes that I have lost with PayPal which has to do with hosting.. -Chris
Sorry to hear, maybe you can at least get even. Check out the first link in my signature, for now I guess that's the best you can do.
Is the chargeback not allowed after 24 hours? If it it so.....then there is no need to be fearful of Paypal chargebacks even when dealing in huge sums. Regards, RightMan
Buyer can do chargeback within 45 days of the transaction. Well it is not recommended to use paypal for selling your site with paypal payments. Better if you do an agreement with him with his signature and his identity and address proof. Or you can send him the files on CD to his shipping address which will appear in the payment email from paypal. On the basis of that shipping details you can hope to save your money if buyer disputes.
What you can do is request the person to pay you using GOODS instead of service, then make sure that the address on the Paypal account is correct and sent the files on a CD via UPS or FEDEX. At lease you will have a tracking number that goes along with this transaction/
