Is it safe to accept irrelevant pingbacks?

    My blog is getting good traffic i'm getting pingbacks for blog posts.But many of them are not relevant to my niche.Should i accept them.Does pingback counts as a reciprocal link?

    I usually consider them as spam and delete them... but now I'm wondering too!

    delete them as theyre just spam. dont give them backlinks :D

    As a general rule of thumb, you don't link out to sites that would not be of interest to your users.

    If the site linking to you regardless of method is crawled and indexed by a search engine then yes in fact they count as backlinks for SEO purposes. If the links are not indexed but people still use them then obviously that is good too.

    Many trackbacks are just from auto generated sites looking to fill content. By not accepting them you are not doing yourself a disservice, but if you choose to accept them even if they are nofollowed you are telling Google and any other Search Engine smart enough to evaluate links something about your site... and it may or may not be a good thing.
