I read this from this website is it true? maxblogpress.com/plugins/mpo/ Why it's very risky to run WordPress in its current form" By default WordPress pings whenever you post a new topic in your blog. That's fine and that's what we want. But do you know WordPress also pings whenever you edit and update any existing post? If you edit a post 10 times then WordPress will send 10 pings. It doesn't matter how small or big a change you make, WordPress always pings whenever you edit. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS and if you edit your blog a lot then your blog will be banned from ping services because of excessive pinging. While pinging there's no way to show which post has been updated. The ping command always sends the home page link of the blog. So, it's simply useless and actually harms your blog if you ping whenever you update any existing post. Notes: This problem has not been fixed even in the latest version of WordPress 2.3.
Not really... lol... its not a problem firstly. There are some blogs which will ping every second cause mostly they are spam blogs... or auto generated blogs... You WONT get blocked by any engine/indexer for editing your post and doing a ping in the process.... its just a characteristic of blogging. However, if you ping a machine 60 times every minute for twenty four days then ya might get whacked soon enough!
Well no, not necessarily... Maxblogpress is a very professional blog, dont think he will just say that to make people download the script. Thing is, there are two school of thoughts here... one who stays on the safe side of safe things, and the other who walks the line on the safe side of safe things. You can choose his plugin (its not a script) and stay on the safer side and not walk the line.... Walking the line wont harm you if you are legitimate you know. There are people who will constantly update his/her blog 20 hours a day, changing lines, changing grammars of each post 100 times, etc... this particular plugin is for them.
Yes it can be a problem as if you are editing posts it will ping the services again, and like me when I started my blog i was editing posts very frequently, so this became a problem. To overcome this i think there is a plugin called UP smart update pinger or something similar.
You won't want to turn it off as you want Google to be indexing your posts and pinging is key to this imo, however you can install plugins which only ping when a new post is made and not when it is edited for instance. as far as i can remember it can be turned off it the admin panel under the pinging options somewhere, but you wouldn't want to do this unless you are just starting your blog off really.
yes i am sure Maxblogpress is a pro but i am also sure there will be a link in my blog to Maxblogpress some where if i use his plug in
