Is it really PR10 Domain?

I am planning to buy few high PR domains for link building purpose.

While i was searching i saw one domain with Page Rank 10
    Domain URL - thecandle.org
    Price is $650
    DA is 29
    Listed in Dmoz.org
    Domain first registered 2003

I am skeptical to buy this domain as i have high doubt whether it's fake.

I am new to domain buying so i want to know what are the faq's to consider before buying domains?

Fake PR from http://www.europeana.eu/portal/ (you can check the redirect on Open Site Explorer).

There are a lot of fake PR domains doing the rounds lately, especially listed on DP.

    Just investigate, investigate, investigate.

If you 301 redirect a domain to a high PR site after the next PR update your domain gets the PR of the site it was redirected to. This is how you fake PR values.

How do you check on opensiteexplorer?

What I do is check the backlinks using majestic seo and run them through scrapebox to check their PR. You need about 3 links from the PR above to achieve the PR below, so like 3 PR5 links to get a PR4. And about 18 of the same PR to get that, so 18 PR6 links will get your site a PR6. These are averages and it depends on other factors like high good the PR is, how many links on page etc

Just looked for a redirect. It doesn't always work, as it depends on when SEOmoz last crawled, so if the data is too old or too fresh it won't show up. So, I always use many ways to check. At the end of the day, if there are little to no backlinks then you know straight away. Even seeing links in Majestic SEO or OpenSiteExplorer doesn't make it wasn't manipulated - are the links hidden? Do they exist any more? And so on.

hi there. i am a domain seller. I mostly focus on domains with Page Ranks. Here are some tips for you to figure out if the PR is fake or not.

    1. Check google.com . Type in "www.domainname.com". If you see the domain appearing in the results, that's a good thing.

    2. Check the page rank using PR tools, like Cekpr dot com, checkpagerank dot net, etc.

    3. Go to opensiteexplorer.org and type in the domain to check the DA/PA as well as backlinks. Also it sometimes show if the domain is redirected or not.

    4. Check the backlinks using majesticseo.com. A domain with Page Rank must have quality backlinks pointing to it.

    5. Use archive.org to check for any redirection. This is very very important. Some domains appear to have valid PR but when you check through the waybackmachine/archive.org you will discover that they are redirected domains, hence with FAKE PR.

    6. Use seospyglass to check for backlinks, anchor text, etc. This one is free to use.

    That's it. Good luck!

are you sure if you have 3xpr5 backlink then your site will get PR4 from google? I don't think so, LOL
That's not so easy dude, btw I don't think google use SEOmoz to calculate pagerank.

I stumbled across a rather excellent collection of tools at Moonsy. PR checker is here: moonsy.com/pagerank_checker/ (I tried several of mine and they all came back correct).

Plenty of other tools there, too - all very simple, quick and stylishly free of BS and clutter. Love it!

Well, it works actually. When a couple of quality pages with quality links like to your page, even one link can give you nice pagerank.

Google does not use SEOMoz, but both use the same quality factors to analyze SEOMoz rank or Pagerank.

No one stated Google does. It was pointed out that sites such as Open Site Explorer and Majestic SEO are good for analysing backlinks to determine if the PR is real, fake (such as redirected), etc. Reading fail?

I believe when the moment you check , they are doing redirection.
From my end i only get the domain name PR is 6 . Is hard for a domain name have PR 10 while even google , twitter and facebook get the most is pr9.
And do remember , impossible to get high PR website with the price only.

the PR of the given site is 6. I checked it through several tools and confirmed. btw, the site is a simple wordpress page. I wonder how it got PR 6 and don't know how long it'll be with the same PR
