I have been developing this niche Law Directory ( www.lawyerdir.org ) over last few days-- and installed Feedit widget to track visitors. Today I noticed that I had 4 visits from Mountain View, California - the Google head-quarter. The confusion is -- are they real human being or just bots??? Those with experience and knowledge with Feedjit data - please share your knowledge. It will be much appreciated.
Could be either. It's hard to tell without checking the identification information sent by the computers themselves. Generally GoogleBots will identify themselves and employees won't.
i think they are bots. there are millions of sites so i don't think google employees will look into each and every one.
I would guess they are Google Search Spiders. In other words, Google crawling the web and visiting your site. It's all automated.
Yes.. it is possible. Some time google executive personally check website performance if they have any doubt.
It is very likely bots. With billions of pages on the net, it is very likely that Google employees will visit the site.
As many others have stated, likely bots but if you use adsense or adwords they might be checking you out for reviewing purposes.
There are billions of websites and only about 32,000 employees at google as of 2011. So, most likely they would not personally check websites with a PageRank under 7 or 8. However, with a revenue of almost $40 billion, they could easily outsource this work to India or wherever and pay companies to inspect websites manually and provide detailed reports to google.
or they might just be a normal webuser in Google company searching for some information I get that alot too!
As you can see - I am in no way using AdSense on the site - it is just in development space and will take few more months. May be your point is right. But at the time of posting - I had 4 visits from the location!
